Frequent flyer miles have become very popular and very greatly used all over the place. People love the idea of putting money on their credit card while simultaneously earning a free trip to anywhere in the world. By putting money on your frequent flyers credit card you can earn a lot of miles and therefore earn a lot of trips. If you plan it wisely you can pay for everything on your credit card and earn enough miles to take big trips such as family vacations. For some people it is hard to go to far away places for family vacations because it costs so much to take all the kids, but with frequent flyer miles you can surprise your kids with a fun trip to somewhere far away from home.

Almost every major credit card company and airline now offer some sort of frequent flyer miles program. What started out as a brilliant stroke by Delta has spread all over the place. You can use almost any credit card, earn a lot of miles, and fly anywhere you want in the world, on any airline you want to fly on. This sounds like a great deal. It is a great deal. You just have to be careful because it is very possible to lose your frequent flyer miles. That would be a real bummer if you saved up a whole lot of miles for a trip you wanted to go on, only to lose them because you did not completely understand what to do to avoid losing them. Here are five ways to not lose your frequent flyer miles:

First way to not lose your frequent flyer miles-

For each frequent flyer program there is a deadline you are required to meet. If you do not make any purchases or fly anywhere within a certain amount of time, you could lose all your miles. So, know the specifics. If you had been saving your miles up for something and you lost them all that would probably stink pretty badly. So they way to avoid losing your miles is to always be sure to use your credit card regularly by making purchases, or to be sure to fly somewhere within the allotted time period so that your miles don't expire.

Second way to not lose your frequent flyer miles-

Maybe you did not realize the rule about the deadline and it has already come down to the last day before your deadline. You obviously do not have time to make a quick flight to China and back. What do you do then? If you have frequent flyer miles that are just sitting, you have the option of reactivating your account so that your miles do not expire. There is a fee for reactivating the account but it is probably better to pay the fee than to lose all your miles.

Third way to not lose your frequent flyer miles-

Every time you spend money and you do not spend that money on your frequent flyer credit card, you are losing frequent flyer miles. In order to avoid losing these miles you simply need to be sure that your purchase anything and everything, on your frequent flyer credit card.

Fourth way not to lose your frequent flyer miles-

This one is much like number one. It is simply to plan trips and take them. If you do not travel often having a frequent flyer card may just be a waste for you. You should at least have two or three trips a year, big or small, to go on. If you travel a lot for your business, use frequent flyer miles to pay for your trips. If you do not travel a lot, start traveling a lot. Go visit places you have never been before.

Fifth way not to lose your frequent flyer miles-

Finally, be sure that you choose an airline that will last. Be careful that you are not with an airline that is going to flop if there are problems in the economy. Be sure that you are with a company that has been around a long time and will be around for a long time. It would really stink to get with a company that flopped and you lost all your miles.
