Many people have taken advantage of working from home as a distributor. Companies like Avon, Mary Kay, Pampered Chef, and others are willing to hire distributors to sell their products and make a nice income. Normally you will need to invest a lot of money into the company so you have a nice inventory built-up to sell to others. This investment in the company will pay off if you have a good network of contacts to sell your products to and to get them to continue buying products from you.


Practically every company that hires distributors will offer them incentives to continue working for them. Mary Kay will offer free cars to their distributors if they get enough distributors to work for them and if they sell enough products for the company. Then there are companies like insurance firms that will offer expense-paid vacations to their distributors that are able to sell a certain number of policies each year. What if you don't want to work for a big company and invest a large amount of cash into them for inventory? There are some alternative options out there.

Establish a web site and start promoting that you are willing to distribute marketing materials and other things for companies in your area. Think of it like being a newspaper delivery boy. You will simply pick up something from the company and take it from point A to point B. If you enjoy driving around and being social, becoming a distributor can be a rewarding job.

One of the biggest challenges distributors face is expanding their network. For example, if you become a Mary Kay distributor and your only network is your family, you won't get too many sales after you first approach them. Sure they may come back to purchase mascara and a couple little things once and awhile, but they cannot be your sole source of income. Branch out with advertising to gain more clients.

A lot of distributors will use brochures, flyers, and other promotional materials to raise awareness from the public. Hold events where you demonstrate how your products work and then make a sales pitch at the end. Make sure you don't make the sale pitch too long or you can turn off some clients and this will cause them to stop purchasing products from you.

Being a distributor is a time-consuming job. If you hold trainings and demonstrations, you will be on-call practically every weekend. Even though you work for yourself, you will still have a manager or a person that watches over you to see how you are coming along. This person will help you set your goals and will continue you encourage you. Although they may not pressure you like a normal boss would, they will still watch you and call you out if they notice your numbers are starting to drop.

Take a look in your local newspaper to find a company that needs distributors. Door-to-door marketing techniques are often done by distributors because companies don't want to send their full-time employees out on the street to promote their products and services.

The income you make as a distributor is entirely up to you. If you put in a lot of time and you build a good network, you can make a great income. If you only put in a few hours a week, you may find yourself looking for another job. A lot of distributors make most of their money from tips when they are doping product demonstrations. Whatever company you decide to work for, make sure they have a good reputation and that you truly enjoy what you do.
