If you have thought about opening up a small home business then you might be wondering about a variety of different aspects of running a small home business. But one thing that many people don't think about when it comes to opening up a small home based business is the equipment that they are going to need. Most of the time people tend to think that because they are opening up a small home business that they are already going to have all of the equipment that they need just because they are using their home to run the business. But what you might not realize is that this isn't always true, many times there is more to the equipment list that you will need then you actually think. So if you are getting ready to open a small home business then you should take a minute to read this article to ensure that you have all of the equipment that you could possibly need to run a small home business successfully from your home.

Here is a list of some of the equipment that you will need to run a small home business.

  • Computer - this is probably going to be the most important piece of equipment that you are going to need because you will be using the computer to do pretty much everything, including keeping track of your records, any bookkeeping, and numerous other tasks. But you can also use a computer to maintain your website if you are going to have a web presence.

  • All-in-one - this machine is going to be a scanner, copier, printer and fax machine built into one machine. These are a great way to save money rather than purchasing all of the equipment separately. Not to mention having everything built into one small machine you are going to be able to save on space as well.

  • Laser printer - this is especially important if you plan on doing a lot of printing throughout the year. If you plan on doing a lot of printing you are going to need a high speed printer rather than just the all-in-one, the laser printer will enable you to print at a faster speed and is designed just for printing which leaves your all-in-one free for other purposes if you have a large print job that you are getting ready to do.

  • Dedicated phone lines - this is going to be a separate phone line than your home phone lines. This is going to be used strictly for business purposes so you are not going to want to have it tied up with personal calls. But a good idea is to also have a dedicated line for your fax machine, this is especially important if you plan on doing a lot of faxing throughout the day. If you do a lot of faxing or receive a lot of faxes your phone line is going to be tied up and your customers won't be able to get through.

  • Internet access - with this you are not going to want just ordinary internet access, meaning dial-up. But for your business you are going to want to have a high speed internet connection. This is important because it won't tie up your phone line and cause you to lose customers, but not only that it is just easier to gain access to any information you need at a faster speed, saves you time and money in the long run. But you are also going to want to have an email account along with the internet access that is for your home business only. This gives your customers numerous ways to contact you which can also increase the amount of business that you are doing.
