Home Business Idea: Blogging

Business Description
A blogger generally creates a website that contains interesting content or posts pertaining to a certain subject or tailored to s specific audience. Depending on the type of blogging technique employed, the blogger will make money based on the amount of ad space they are able to sell on their actual blog, the content they write, or the number blogs they are able to maintain on different subjects.
Materials Needed
A blogging home business will likely only need a computer with an internet connection to function. However, if a blogger wants to maintain a high number of their own websites, they will likely need a server on which to store all of their data. The home business will also need a method for tracking their clients, income, and other accounting data.

Space Requirements
A blogging home business does not require very much space. A blogger will likely want a quiet place to work like an office space in their home, but this is not necessary. Really, all they need is a place where their computer can connect to the internet. They could work from their bed if they wanted to because there is very little face-to-face interaction in a blogging business.
Time Requirements
Depending on the type of blogging business, time requirements will vary. If someone is writing articles for a number of different blogs, they may be required to write quite a few articles each week. This could be time consuming. Also, some methods of blogging include maintaining hundreds of blogs at once. Managing all of the blogs and ensuring they have new content can be very time consuming. At the same time, someone who has established a popular blog may just need to post every couple of days to maintain their following and keep companies advertising on their blog.
Income Potential: 4
The earning potential for home bloggers is astronomical. A few bloggers make in the millions or close to it. However, this home business only ranks a four because most other bloggers make nothing, or very little on their blogs. Bloggers earn anywhere from nothing to six figures depending on their ability to generate a following or willingness to manage multiple blogs. Nevertheless, this is not a make nothing or everything business. Many bloggers are able to earn a steady supplemental income without too much work.
Keys to Success
The key to a high yielding blogging business is to be able to do everything. A good blogger will be developing a blog with a high traffic volume on which to sell ad space, at the same time they may be splogging. Splogging is where a blog is set up and pulls key headlines from other websites on the web. At the same time a blogger may have a few blogs with specific articles that generate search hits. Along with all of this, they may also be writing content for other blogs. By keeping busy with multiple blogging methods, a blogger will have a greater opportunity for success.
Risks
Opening a blog does not mean that the blog will instantly make money. A blogger must generate popularity for their site or increase its searchability on Google. One risk with a blogging company is that the blog will not generate any money.
Another risk that comes with blogging is that a popular blog may lose its popularity if there is a shift in current trends. A blogger must be able to adapt or be willing to start over if their advertising drops out.
