How Can I Obtain Useful Feedback From My Customers?

1. Ask for feedback from your customers. A follow-up phone call to your customer asking how satisfied the customer is after a job or if they had any problems/concerns can give you great feedback and provide additional opportunities to share product information or add-ons.

2. Conduct informal/formal research with your customers for trade publication or local newspaper. Ask questions such as: On what basis do you select your service/ product provider? Why did you select our organization? This will provide you with insights on what you should be doing and what you are already doing that the customer appreciates already.

3. Utilize customer satisfaction return cards/comment cards. Make it convenient for your customers to complain or praise. Make sure at least one of your questions has room for the customer to write down specifics. Example: If there was one little thing we could do better, what would it be?

4. Develop a special report on your area of expertise and get a business associate to mail out your special report to potential customers.

5. Send fun items to your customers, such as Dilbert mints by Ragold. Congratulate them for a recent promotion by sending them "Accomplish-mints." Send a note reminding them to send you that overdue letter of recommendation along with a box of "Postpone-mints." People enjoy a sense of humor and will remember and appreciate you for it.
