When you hear the term marketing, the first thing you probably think about is television or radio advertisements. The one thing that you probably do not think about when you hear the term marketing is keeping your customers happy, which is odd because that it an important part of the marketing process. The reason that keeping your customers happy is an important part of the marketing process is that your customers are the ones who give you business. Your customers play a vital role in making your home business successful, if you did not have any customers your home business would fail.

Customers not only play a huge role in determining how successful your business is going to be, they also play a role in the type of marketing techniques that your home business is going to use. You are going to need to pick marketing techniques that will appeal to your customer base, but you also have to pick the marketing techniques that are going to be the most effective for your business. When you are designing your marketing strategy you want to think about what you can do to keep your customers happy so that they keep coming back, however, you also want to think about what you can do to attract new customers.

One thing that you can do to keep your customers happy is to create business cards that your customers will keep. Yu want to avoid making the traditional style of business cards because those are thrown out the minute people leave the store or they clean out their wallets because they are just pieces of paper taking up room. Therefore, what you can do is have your business information put on notepads, magnets, pens, or other items that your customer can actually use. The more useful the "business card" is the longer your customers are likely to keep them around, which increases your exposure time.

Something else that you are going to need to do is stop paying so much attention to your unprofitable customers. Even though you might think that this is a strange technique to follow, it is not. However, wasting energy on making your unprofitable customers happy is taking away time that could be spent on making your profitable customers, plus you won't even be losing any money. When it comes to profitable customers, you have a core group of customers that make up your home businesses profits and by pouring the majority of your time and energy into maintaining and nurturing those relationships; you are far more likely to increase your home business's profits.

Finally, you want to make your customers feel special. How you go about making them feel special is going to depend on the type of business that you are running, but it can also depend on how creative you are. The problem that has come up with customers is because of how busy everybody is the customer is often being overlooked; personalized customer service has become outdated. The main reason for that is that people are more concerned about getting the lowest prices and getting in and out as quickly as possible that businesses have started to neglect the customers. However, most customers still want to be recognized, they still want that personalized customer service. To give your customers that special attention you will need to take a few extra moments to make sure they are getting the thanks that they deserve. For example, enclose a personal thank you note inside their purchase or even a small gift.
