Senior care service

As the baby boomers start moving toward their senior years, more and more senior care services are in demand. A senior care service isn't always providing a place for seniors to live when they are unable to take care of themselves. Senior care services will provide seniors with the ability to still live comfortably in their own homes and receive the assistance they need. If you start your own senior care service, you will be responsible for offering companionship services, personal care, and nursing services to seniors.
If you want to provide medical services, you will need to obtain your nursing degree. Most people that start a home health care business will help out with the basic things like cleaning, cooking, and running errands. This means you will need to have access to a vehicle.

The only space you will need is to hold groceries in your car. A senior care service means you will be going to the other person's house and performing your job duties there.
Depending upon how many clients you have, a senior care service may require that you put in several hours a day. Plan to spend at least an hour or two with each client. If you are paid hourly, you will want to get out of there once your time is up because Medicare can be sticklers with paying extra.
For all the hard work you do, a senior care service will not make you rich. If you simply drive around and run errands, you will only make minimum wage, maybe a little above it. If you provide companionship and personal services, you will probably make about $10 a hour. This is not a big income, especially considering you will be doing a lot of lifting. One a scale of one to five with five being the highest potential income, a senior care service ranks at a one. This is mostly because of the terrible pay you will get, not the reward you will get from helping others.
If you are dead set on starting your own senior care service and you are convinced you will do better than minimum wage, by all means try it out! To be successful, you need to locate in an area where there are a lot of seniors. Everyone moves somewhere warm when they get older so check out Florida and other places where seniors are attracted. Advertise your business at places where seniors hang out. Let people know that you will be around to help them when they are recovering from surgery and that you would be willing to help out for their day-to-day living. Make sure you have a web site that offers pricing information and a list of the different things you do. While the seniors may not check out your web site, their children certainly will and they want to make sure you are legitimate.
Anyone that provides healthcare services must have a nursing certification. Check your state's licensing requirements and make sure you get certified and licensed before you start your business. If you hire employees, make sure you do a background check on them. There are a lot of people that will try to steal items from seniors homes and they get access to their homes by posing as a senior care service provider. A risk you could take is losing everything if you are not insured. Make sure you are protected by having a good insurance policy. To protect yourself even more, draw up a contract with each customer stating what you are and are not liable for. Finally, check with Medicare and Medicaid on the different regulations you need to follow and how much you can bill.
