Maybe you are thinking about starting a small home business but you have no idea where to begin. One idea is to begin on the internet and see what home business opportunities are available there. There are a good number of sites that offer advice about starting home businesses. There are other sites that offer "home business opportunities"; however, you should be careful when trying to use those sites. Most sites will make you join (in other words, download spyware onto your computer) to get in, other sites will make you pay a fee. There is no guarantee that you will find what you are looking for once you log onto the site.

A better idea than going onto "home business opportunity" websites is to narrow your search down a little bit and try to find sites that cater to what you are looking for. Start with deciding which of your skills you would like to use in your home business. If you are a good typist, you can look for data entry jobs, if you are a writer, look into freelance writing jobs, if you are a web designer, there are plenty of opportunities for you on the internet. Avoid being scammed on the web by narrowing your search before you go in. Once you have narrowed your search, you will find good and helpful sites that offer opportunities for your. Below are a couple of sites that offer good home business opportunities for your particular field.

Freelance writing-one of the best sites for finding freelance writing jobs is freelancewriting.com. This web site is free and offers a link called "freelance writing jobs" from there you should follow the link to online writing hobs and you will find a database of online jobs. It's as easy as that, there are high, low, and no paying jobs. Generally, you need to have a few articles published before you will qualify for the high paying jobs, so start with the low paying jobs. There are also full time jobs available, publishing jobs, and a place to place your own ad for work. One of the best things about this site is that the ads go through an approval process so you won't spend your time chasing after an online scam.

Web design and software programmers-a site that offers good jobs for web designers and software programmers is contractedwork.com. This is a bidding site but it does provide work. This is how it works, you go to the site and click on the link that is your specialty (for example, there are options for web masters, web design, and flash animation). Look at the "posted projects" board to see the different projects that are up for bid. Read the information about what the company needs and then you post your bid. There are projects on this board that go for tens of dollars and there are projects that go for thousands of dollars. Surf around the site and see if you can't find a project that is right for you.
Another idea for finding home business opportunities is to check on public classified sites like Craig's list. You can go to craigslist.com and do a search for whatever type of job that you are interested in. I have been surprised at the amount of work that I have been able to find on Craig's list.

When searching the web for business opportunities you need to be extremely careful. There are more bogus opportunities than there are legitimate opportunities. Avoid any "opportunity" that you have to pay for. You should be paid for your work, not the other way around.
