Many people only know how to do a few things with their computers. They can turn them on and off and maybe check their email. Others can run a few different programs and might be able to fix a minor problem with it arises. However, even for the person who considers themselves somewhate conversant with computers, problems can quikcly arise that they cannot figure out. However, there are many people out there who have a natural skill with computers. Often it doesn't come from any particular training or schooling. They simply have learned how to fix and understand computers naturally through working with them. I knew someone once who could put together a computer from bits and pieces of other computers.

They had no formal training but they simply had this natural know how that could not be explained. This kind of talent is rare, but it isn't so rare that you can't take advantage of it. If you are one of these people who seems to have a natural ability with computers, you should consider running a small home computer repair business. This doesn't mean that you need to know how to build your own computer out of silicon and plastic, like my friend seemed to know how to do. It simply means that you need to be able to fix most computer problems that the average business or home computer would face. If you feel that you would be able to do this, you should consider starting such a business. You might be surprised at how much money you can make.

However, there are a few basics you need to know before you jump into a new home business. One is that you need to find out about licensing and business laws in your area. The chances are that you will need to get a business license. This also means that you will need to pay taxes, which means that you will need to keep careful records of everything you do. Check with a lawyer and attorney before you start your new business so that you can be sure about local laws and contracts. Never start a business unless you are sure that everything you are doing is legal, and that you are legally protected when you perform a service.

Besides this you will obviously need some capital for tools. This might include a workspace in your home or a computer. You know what you will need to get for your business. Another thing to remember is that in our fast paced technological economy things change quickly. You need to stay current on problems involving both hardware and software. You also need to know how to fix problems relating to internet servers, which will be a big part of your business.

Another thing you need to do is figure out a fair wage and charge people. Realize that the business will probably start slowly and that you will probably need to lower your prices initially. Start to advertise your business and after some good press and some satisfied customers you will find that you can gain a customer base. Continue to advertise and meet new customers. Realize also that it will take some time to get to a point when you are making a large income. The best part will be that you won't have lots of expenses because you will be working out of your home. Have some patience and wait until you are rolling. Good luck with your new home based computer business!
