Time requirements:
Becoming a web designer from home can be very time consuming because you can easily spend hours designing one web page. However, how much time you spend working is going to depend on how much work you have and what hours you set aside for work. You are going to be the one who sets the deadlines of when the projects are going to be completed, so make sure that you set realistic deadlines. Setting realistic deadlines will prevent you from being overworked.

- You need to make sure that you know HTML. If you do not understand HTML, you can go online to learn it. HTML is a very simple coding language that once learned it is easy to incorporate and is very versatile. Best thing to do when learning HTML is to make a practice website and explore until you are confident.
- You will also need to become proficient with CSS, which is Cascading Style Sheets. This is an addition to HTML and is coded in the same way.
- You need to be proficient with web scripting to be successful as a web designer. Two of the most popular scripting programs that web designers work with as JavaScript and PHP, as an added bonus they are free to use.
- When practicing on your website make mistakes on purpose. Making mistakes on purpose will allow you to see what is going to happen when you do certain things. Just remember to correct the mistakes, unless you like what happened because of the mistake.

- Your biggest risk when starting a web design business from your home is your competition. There is a lot of competition out there for web design, so you are going to need to offer something to your clients that other businesses are not able to offer.
- Your second biggest risk for this type of business is your computer crashing. This is an easiest enough problem to fix because you just buy a new computer, but if you have not backed up your data then everything is lost. You need to make sure that your clients' information is always backed up on disks or a separate hard drive, just in case.
