When working at home is taking over your life

manhandcuffedtobriefcase8247331.jpgWhat should you do when working from home seems to be taking over your whole life? It can be difficult to work from home because you technically never leave work. It may hover over your head, and you may be unable to enjoy your time at home because you can't stop thinking about everything you should be doing. However, if you can set some boundaries, working a home based business can be very rewarding, and provide you with all kinds of positive things, such as flexibility, and low overhead.

The following are some tips for what to do when working at home seems to be taking over your life:

First, remember that when you work a "regular" job you have normal days of the week that you work, and normal hours. So, try to implement that same concept into your home based business work week. Take at least one or two days off a week to do things that are not work related. If weekends are busy for your home based business, then don't take weekends off, instead take a couple days midweek, or choose a day that you won't work, and will enjoy your life, your home, your family, etc. without work weighing you down.

Next, have family time daily-When you work from home, it is easy for other members of your family to feel unimportant, or as though you are choosing work over their needs. So, in order to combat these feelings, and not let work take over you life, or your family's lives, take time each day to spend with family, and bond. It will strengthen your family, and help you to better focus on your business when you are working.

Next, set work hours, and stick to them- This is similar to the fist thing you want to do, but the idea is that you want to make sure that you are not trying to cram too much into your schedule, especially if you really do not have time to fit anything extra in. So, determine how many hours need to be worked that week, and look at your schedule and determine what you are going to do to ensure that you have time for your work and your family. This may mean making sacrifices like getting up early to work before your children wake, or staying up later than them to work after they are in bed. It might mean working fewer hours on the busy family days, and long hours on other days. Regardless of how you get your hours in, it is important that you do so.

Don't put too much on your plate- If you have to work 40 hours a week, don't volunteer to be room mom as well. It would be nice, but someone else can do it, freeing up time for you to spend with your child, instead of planning parties for 20 other kids.
