Why your home business should be online

The main reason your home business should be online is that the world is moving online.

With online business you can advertise cheaper, sell more, and reach a wider audience. So, use the following techniques to make your home business more successful online:

The latest money maker for your home business is online marketing. The use of this smart tool of advertising and communication is a winning move you can make now. Increase your sales by increasing your use of webcasting, blogcasting and podcasting.

Webcasting is the ability for you to speak to your customers and shoppers live on their computer monitor. Using recorded messages you can sell your product or service to people worldwide using your computer. With webcasting, you can actually see the person you're speaking to, and talk live in real time or as if you were there in the room with them. And all without the other person having to spend a cent to speak with you.

To begin webcsting, you need to have your computer, but you need very little other hardware or other tools to get started. If you already have these items you can start today.

? High speed internet access is the beginning. As of last October, when the latest statistics became available, 60 percent of U.S. homes already have high speed access.
? A Web Cam is a camera that can be used on the internet. These are sold in any computer store. Usually you can buy a working web cam for about $20-$40.
? A Head Set may already be built into your computer if you have a newer model. If not, you can get a good head set for between $15-$25.
? Webcast Services.

Internet is as important in the 21st century as a telephone, or printed sales circulars, etc.
If a business is using the internet, this will help an owner to operate a business with more efficiency.

A computer is usually the best way to take notes while on a sales call and if necessary, you can also go online during your call. The owner or sales people in the business can send out emails to their customer. A message can be emailed about a promotion or a new product. Companies on their web sites can accept credit cards online so they can conduct e-commerce.

Faster and more noticeable then email is a feature called Desktop Reader which needs to be hosted on a dedicated server.

For a customer to download the Desktop Reader he will see an instruction to click on the link. Some typical instructions for the Desktop Reader will look like "When you click on the link you will get a little box asking you to "run or save" and you choose "run". You will again be asked to "run" or "don't run" the program. Again select "run" you will now see a box that will ask you for your name, email address and some other information to fill out. You will see a small icon appear at the bottom of the screen in the tasks bar."
The customer can unsubscribe from the Desktop Reader at anytime.

Mac users download link: href=http://downloads.desktopsubscriber.com//reader/mac/1288/829

When the business owner sets up their own Desktop Reader, the last 8 symbols and numbers will be specific to their own icon and box with data inside of it. This particular set is to receive a weekly newsletter about crystals.

Still another internet tool is a BLOGcast or a PODcast. BLOGcast is a term used to describe a Pod Cast (primarily by those who don't want to promote Apple's iPod.) A blogcast is an audio (or video) show that is recorded and may be downloaded on demand from web sites. The owner of the business creates this video show to fit their product or service they are advertising on the internet.

Sample of a BLOGCAST:
* Teeth Whitening Guides
This blog features all kinds of information about teeth and oral health, not just how to keep your smile white and shiny. Learn about gum disease, preventing cavities, and more

A couple services that iPod owners may find helpful are joining blogs and podcasts together,
Enablr claims to automatically transcribe podcasts into text
Odiogo and Talkr do the reverse, creating audio from text files.

None of these 21st century marketing tools would be available to a small business owner who did not use the internet as one of their marketing and advertising resources.
