Budgeting for fun things with your finance

There are many great ways to have fun while living on a budget. Even if you are trying to save money there are ways that you can find fun without spending much or even any money.

Money doesn't have to determine how much fun you have, there are so many ways to have fun with no money at all. We will look at different ways to still have fun and keep on budget.

We will start with some of the free ideas. There are some great hobbies and activities that can be done for free.

You could go for a hike. You might be surprised to find out how close you live to a hiking trail. You can find some beautiful views and get some great exercise at the same time! It is not recommended that you do this activity alone, but if you decide you are going to then make sure and tell someone where you are going and how long you will be. That way if there is a problem then they can get some help.
Go play at the park. Take a Frisbee, volleyball, or a softball and gloves. If you want to you could also take a picnic for a fun meal. You get some time in the sunshine and some special time with your someone special or your friends.
Find a movie on TV, it costs absolutely nothing. Invite some friends over or cuddle with your sweetheart on the couch. You can splurge and pop some popcorn, but that is just a suggestion. Make sure you have a blanket to keep warm and some tissues if you picked a girly movie.

There are also some great low budget ideas that can make for a great time.

If you want to go out to see a new movie, go during the day. The early shows are usually cheaper, and you won't have such a packed theater. Also try eating out earlier, the oldies have it right, it is cheaper to eat with the early birds.
Instead of paying for cable each month, which can be very costly, take some of that money and buy a new movie each month. Buying a movie or two each month gives you something new to watch, but you also get to watch it more than once. Cable isn't something that you get to keep and watch when you want like movies.
Try making homemade gifts for birthdays and holidays. They really can have so much more meaning than a store bought gift. You can set a spending limit on supplies, like $5, this gives the maker something to work with. This makes the holidays much less stressful financially.

There are also some great travel tips on a low budget.

Take a vacation at home. Take the time off work and just relax at home. You can make sure that you have all of the groceries you need beforehand and not even leave the house. Or you can also try visiting local attractions, you may be surprised how close you live to some really neat things.
If you are getting away from home, travel the cheapest way. Find the cheapest time of day and day of the week to fly, consider driving to your destination, or even consider a bus or train ticket. Do your homework.
You can even try to find package deals. Find a travel website and book your flight and hotel together to save money. You may also be able to find tickets to local attractions to fit in the deal for a good price.
