Almost half of the United States population has been to Las Vegas at least one time during their lifetime. With so many people heading to Las Vegas each year the hotels and casinos compete against one another and usually offer some great deals. You need to look for bargains to find ways to make fabulous Las Vegas into cheap Las Vegas.

If you plan to gamble some money in Las Vegas, you need to save money on other things. Using coupons can save you a ton of money in Las Vegas. Purchase a coupon book and look over all the discounts that pertain to Las Vegas. Meals can be purchased for half the regular price and they usually come with free drinks. Most hotels you stay at in Las Vegas will give you coupon books. The coupons normally have 2-for-1 passes to shows, meals, and even for free plays at the casino. The point of the coupon book is to get you to spend more money at their particular hotel or casino. If you are smart with the coupon book, you will use it to pay for some of your regular vacation costs.

Another benefit of a coupon book is that they also come with gambling information. If you go to the web site located within the book, usually the hotel web site, you can read up about poker, roulette, and other games. This will give you a great opportunity to sharpen your gambling skills and possibly win back some of the money you invest into Las Vegas.

The best way to save money in Las Vegas is to plan your trip in advance. Plan out how many days you want to spend and try to avoid going on the weekend. Always book your vacation during the off-season because the hotel rates are much cheaper. The off-season for Las Vegas is June-August. No one wants to go when the temperature reaches 100 degrees. If you do go in the summer, purchase a bus pass so you can get out of the heat. If you are flying to Las Vegas, book your hotel and flight separately. The airlines often discount their fares to Las Vegas during the summer and you can usually save $20 to $30 dollars by booking through the airlines web site versus through a travel web site.

"What to do in Las Vegas"

Las Vegas is full of non-stop entertainment. These hotels offer great food, luxurious rooms, fantastic shows, and are basically mini theme parks. If you are planning on booking your next trip to Las Vegas, you need to consider going to some of the popular attractions:

The Bellagio Fountains - This is perhaps one of the most popular shows in Las Vegas. You stand on the sidewalk right in front of the Bellagio and watch a beautiful water, light, and sound show. This is a great show for families because you do not need to walk through a smoke-filled casino.

The Eiffel Tower Replica - One of the unique things to see in Las Vegas is the Eiffel Tower Replica. You can go up to the restaurant in the top of the tower and see an impressive view of the strip. The food is fantastic and it is great for a romantic evening.

The New York, New York Roller Coaster - Another fun thing to do in Las Vegas is the New York, New York Roller Coaster. This fast roller coaster is on top of the hotel and it really gives you a thrill to see the entire strip at fast speeds on a roller coaster.

Big Shot at the Stratosphere - If the roller coaster at the New York, New York didn't fill your desire for fun, visit the Stratosphere. The Big Shot ride launches you 160 feet up in the air in 2.5 seconds. You return at about 45 miles per hour and it is on the top of the hotel. This ride is not for individuals that are afraid of heights.

Treasure Island Battleship Show - No trip to Las Vegas is complete without a stop on the sidewalk to watch the Battleship show. Every 90 minutes, Treasure Island has a unique Battleship show filled with live actors, water effects, lights, and music. This is a fun experience for kids to watch.

Gondola Ride at the Venetian - If you are worn out from a long day of waling the strip, take a break in a relaxing gondola ride. You can ride through the Grand Canal at the Venetian and go under bridges, pass by cafes, and experience a small amount of Italy in the United States. The ride even provides Italian music to set the mood for a romantic evening.

Consider staying on the old Las Vegas strip at hotels like the Golden Nugget. These used to be 4 star hotels back in 1970's, but they still offer great rooms and plenty of gambling opportunities. Staying at the hotel off the main strip will save you $40 to $150 dollars, which is a great deal. If you don't want to stay in downtown Las Vegas, look around at other hotels in the city. Staying 5-10 miles outside of the city will cut your hotel rates in half and the hotels normally offer shuttle services and drop you off at the major hotels/casinos like the Bellagio.

Plan your vacation ahead and look for new deals on the internet each day. By booking your rooms months in advance, you can get lower hotel rates and you might even be able to get into some of the popular shows for a low rate. Always plan to attend some of the free shows in Las Vegas like the nightly light show on Freemont Street. This is a free concert with spectacular lights right in the middle of the strip.

In addition to using your coupons for low-cost meals, you also need to look around for the all-you-can-eat buffets. There are always huge signs that advertise the low cost of all-you-can-eat meals and you can go almost any time of the day and feed your entire family for under $20. Always ask your hotel if they offer complimentary meals like breakfast or lunch.

You can also find more coupons at the local supermarket. The free publications like I Love Las Vegas magazine talks about all the different things you can do when you are in Las Vegas and it also has coupons to stores, casinos, restaurants, and local attractions.

Before you go to Las Vegas, look online for discount show tickets. The Excalibur offers a fascinating live show with a unique dinner. You can find discounts to their show and several others online at VegasAreaGuide.com. Always watch for online discounts because they cost much less than purchasing the tickets at the hotel. Booking your show early also guarantees that you will have a seat at the show. Some popular shows sell out weeks or months before the event.

Avoid buying souvenirs at the casinos; they are usually double the price. Look around at the street vendor's booths or stores off of the strip. The souvenirs are pretty expensive if you buy them without coupons too. Before you go into the souvenir shop, walk up to the hotel receptionist and let them know you are interested in booking your next vacation there. They will give you a packet of information about the hotel and some of the attractions there. The packet they give you normally gives you a discount to the hotel's gift shop. Go to the Las Vegas Premium Outlets or the Las Vegas Outlet Center for some cheap shopping. Not only can you find name-brand clothing for a discount, but you also get a chance to do some souvenir shopping and it gets you out of the gambling district for a little while.

It is important to stick to your budget when you go to Las Vegas. It is really easy to drop a few hundred to a few thousand dollars in a few minutes in Las Vegas. Take cash with you and go home once you have spent your cash limit. Limit your gambling amount to different games. Spend the least amount of money on the slot machines because they actually have the worst odds in the casino and you will lose more than you make on them.

If you are getting married in Las Vegas, look for the wedding centers with the cheapest rates. Several wedding centers charge a couple hundred dollars, especially if you are going for a theme wedding like Elvis and Marilyn Monroe. If you want a basic wedding, you can find packages starting at $75; this includes the cost of the license and the minister.

Another way to save money in Las Vegas is to book your vacation with a last-minute deal. Online travel sites often have weekend deals to Las Vegas for a cheap rate. They are able to offer cheap air fare and low-cost hotel rooms because they have worked out a deal with the casinos that are looking to fill most of their hotel rooms. Hotels are willing to lower their rates in the hope that you will spend more money in their casino. Visit the online travel sites daily to find last-minute deals to Las Vegas. The online travel sites will often offer cheap deals during the middle of the night. If you can stay up late, go onto their web site at 1 or 2 in the morning and look for discounted room rates. Airlines also follow this procedure and they will significantly lower their rates for a few hours in the early morning hours.

Visit Ebay.com for hotel discounts and show tickets. Some individuals book tickets in advance only to find out they will be unable to attend the show. You can get cheap tickets to popular shows in the city like The Blue Man Group, Bette Midler, and other popular Las Vegas shows.

Don't spend all your time in the casinos, go out and see the city. Take a drive to Hoover Dam and go for a tour. This gives you a chance to get out and see the sunlight and it helps you avoid dropping more money into the slots or on the craps table.

Ask your friends and family members for fun things to do in Vegas. They may even be able to hook you up with some discount tickets or cheap hotel rates. Your friends will let you know what the best shows are and which hotels offer the best foods for low rates. If you have kids, you want to stay at kid-friendly hotels that offer babysitting services if you plan on gambling for a few hours. Blogs are great places to look for referrals about Las Vegas. Other travelers will provide information about their trip and they will evaluate several things about the hotels like the rooms, rates, accommodations, shows, and meals.

If you are booking your trip to Las Vegas, remember these important tips:

  • Book a trip during the middle of the week for cheap room rates.

  • Use coupons to save on meal costs, free shows, and souvenirs.

  • Watch the online travel sites for cheap deals. Watch the vacation sites for discount tickets to shows and other attractions.

  • Plan your vacation in advance.

  • Bring cash to keep yourself on a budget.

  • Walk the strip and look for free shows like the light show on Freemont Street or the Treasure Island Battleship show.
