Choosing a life insurance and financial planning company
There are several life insurance and financial planning companies out there trying to get your business, the question is not how to find one, but how to choose one. So, the following are some things to consider before choosing a life insurance and financial planning company:
1. Have you heard of the company before? If you have not heard of the company offering to sell you life insurance or financial planning, chances are you should not go with them. Of course you need to evaluate how much you pay attention, tc. However, when you are investing in something like life insurance, it is important to know that the company is legitimate, and not just going to run off with your money. If you have not heard of the company, but you think they are legitimate, then check them out at the Better Business Bureau website. This will give you a lot of insight on how the company treats their employees etc.

2. How long have they been in business? If the company is fairly new, then it is probably not a good idea to put your money with them. If they go out of business you will lose the money you put into your insurance policy. This would be too bad.
3. What is their reputation? If the company does not have a good reputation then do not go with them. If you do not know their reputation, look around. Ask for some references, contact other clients to see if they are happy with their service. Check to make sure they have actually paid out on life insurance policies, and how long that took.
4. How much does it cost? One of the biggest things to consider when choosing a life insurance and financial planning company is the cost. If you can get a similar policy for a different company for half the price that is something you should think about. If you are paying for customer service, consider how often you will likely use it. You need to know that you can afford the policy for a long time; otherwise it is worthless to you. If you pay into it for ten years, then find you can't afford it, and drop coverage, that is ten years of premiums down the drain.
5. How easy is your rep to get a hold of? One of the big signs of whether or not a company is good to go with is how accessible the representative is. If the person selling you the insurance never answers their phone, or takes several days to get back to you, then it is probably smarter to go with some other company. If you can't get your initial questions answered quickly, while you are a prospective customer, then how will your questions be answered after you have paid your money.
6. How fast is the customer service? If you have a question, you will want to have it answered quickly, honestly, and efficiently. So, find out how great their customer service is. Call as if you were a customer. How long are you put on hold? How helpful are they? What do they do to answer your questions?
7. What kind of terms and conditions do you get? This is an important part of choosing a life insurance and financial planning company. Is your policy effective immediately? Does your policy make sense, or is the language confusing? How comfortable are you feeling about it?
