How to budget for your personality type.

Each person has a different personality; here is how to budget for your personality type. Budgeting is something that takes some trial and error. When you sit down and create a budget, and then start using that budget, there will be some flaws in the great plan you have created. This is because even with budgeting software, each of our personalities comes into play when it comes to budgeting.

Your money is delegated into three different places. Living day-to-day, paying bills, and putting money into savings. So, when you create your budget, you will delegate what amount of money from your income, is going to be put into each of these categories.

The tricky part is knowing what amount goes into what category, and this is where your personality will kick in. Here are some of the personality differences that are often seen in budgeting.

Care free, have fun and pay the bills as they come along.
Save up for the future, be conservative but enjoy life, and make sure the rainy days are prepared for.
Pay the bills, have a retirement fund, and spend the rest on home improvement.
Have the bare minimum for necessities, and set up all the rest of the income for savings and investments.

What ever your budgeting personality is, it has never been more important to budget and track your finances. This is because the cost of not watching your money has gotten very expensive. The late fees check fees, interest rate increases, and penalty fees and much more from late payments and un-kept finances have increased to outrageous amounts.

Regardless of your personality type, you can set a base budget and then decide what else you want to add to your budget as you go. Start with the very basics. All personality types want to have some sort of place to live, with some utilities, start there.

Here is the basic structure.

Income- paychecks, alimony, child support, and any income that is consistent each month.

Bills- Mortgage, or rent, utilities, and any payments that are consistent each month

Ok, now after you have paid the bills, there is usually money left over, you spend that money somewhere. Each personality will want to do different things with this money. Some people save, some people travel, some people spend it on their home. Whatever way you spend it, you will want to track that spending. That is the next clue to getting your finances in control.

Often time's money is spent in places that it is not planned or expected. Budgets that are made so tight in the beginning, with no room for the unexpected fail because there is not room for growth. Start out simple, and leave room for these changes. Then when you have tracked the spending, you will know where you can make changes for the future.

Once you have budgeted with the basics for a month or two, you can go ahead and set up what you can cut back on and what money you will have for savings, investing and finally emergency money.

Even if you only delegate a small amount to each of these areas, you will find that over time it will add up. The best way to set up for your savings to happen, regardless of the personality type, is to have an automatic process set up.

Here is what it would look like.

Payday
The paycheck is direct deposited, and a portion of that money is automatically deposited into a savings account
Sit down each pay period or twice a month, before any money is spent
Pay the bills on your budget
You then can use the remaining money for food, fun and family needs

Seems simple, however it takes practice, with each personality type, it will be a little different. However if you work at it, everyone can budget their money and set up their finances to prevent from paying higher interest rates, bank fees and late fees.
