It doesn't take a lot of money to be happy

And they may think that people with less money are forced to be stressed, worried, sad, and depressed about finances all of their lives. But people who don't have a lot of money do not have to be stressed, depressed, sad, and worried about their finances all of the time. These people can enjoy life too. This article discusses a variety of ways that people with less money can be happy and enjoy what life has to offer.

Fun and free

There are actually a lot of things that a person, or a family, can do that are fun and will not cost them a lot of money. Many of the outdoor type of activities are free. For example, hiking, going on a picnic, going to a lake or the ocean, going on a walk, flying a kite, playing soccer, basketball, football, or baseball, drawing with sidewalk chalk, going to the park, etc. There are many options for free outdoor activities that a person can do with their friends or their family.

Parents with children may want to look out for free days at local attractions. Many zoos offer free admission on a certain day of the month during their off season; this may also be true for aquariums, museums, and other hot spots for families. Sometimes it may take a little research for a person to find free activities for them and their families, but they are out there.

The library offers many free things to individuals and families. Obviously a person can check out books, but they also have many movies, and television shows on DVD that a person can check out as well. This can be a lot less expensive than buying these types of entertainment.

Less expensive versions of fun

Of course not everything that is fun is free. But a person does not have to miss out on fun things completely just because they do not have the money. There are many less expensive versions of fun things that people and families can do. Here are a few options.

Instead of going to the movies as a family, stay home and set up the living room like a theatre. A family can make popcorn-they even have movie theatre style that is microwavable-and have the same soda and treats that they would have had had they gone to the movie theatre. Having rules such as no cell phones and no talking can make it seem even more realistic.

An alternative to eating out is to make some favorite restaurant meals right at home. Similar, if not the exact one, recipes can be found online or in cookbooks for many of the best popular dishes people get in restaurants. Kids may like it if the parents pretend to be the waiters and waitresses, or vice versa.

Coupons and sales

A great way for a person or family to enjoy the foods they love without spending a lot of money is to use coupons and shop wisely when there are sales. This can really help a person be less stressed and depressed about their finances. And a person does not have to get way into using coupons for them to take advantage of the savings.

A Sunday newspaper generally contains the ads and the coupons for the week and month. A person should just take an hour or so to look over the ads and coupons and compare it to the list of things they need. They can write down what is on sale and where and clip the coupons they need and put them in separate piles depending on the store. And when something is on sale that the person or family uses a lot they should stock up. This way they have it and do not need to purchase it when it isn't on sale.
