If you can set some money set aside you can earn 5-20% on what you put away and then be able to pay cash for any emergency or wonderful life event. To let interest work for you is being wise with your money.

Money smarts is saving money. When you save money you are prepared and you can pay for the break down on your vehicle that you did not expect. It is suggested that if you want to be wise with your money, you will want to have 6-12 months income saved up for emergencies and things like yearly premiums for car insurance. You will never want to spend all you monthly income if you are trying to be wise with your money.

When you are being wise with your money, it's smart to have a monthly budget. This will allow you to see what will need to be paid and when. You can see that you can set aside $100 a paycheck for future purchase that you may want to buy. Using a budget will help you to spend within your means and avoid being charged fees or interest.

Set some finance goals and be smart with what you spend your money on. Being wise includes buying things with money that you have or have saved up and not buying on credit. You should set goals for your house payments, or car payments. You don't want to be paying for a car your entire life.

Having a budget and putting your money where it will best serve your financial goals is controlling your money instead of your money controlling you.
