Saving Money on Transportation

Are you one of those people who thinks that the money you put in your tank, and spend on your car is a set amount, and there is nothing you can do to lower your transportation costs? If so, you are not alone. However, you are also incorrect. While you have little control over the cost of gas, or the fact that your car needs regular maintenance, it is possible to find big savings in your transportation expenses if you get the right attitude, and start looking at things the right way.
When you are trying to save money on transportation, start by asking yourself the following questions:
|
|
- "Is there a way I could do this for less?"
- "Is there a more efficient route, speed, or way?"
- "Is there a coupon or discount I could be taking advantage of?"
If you approach things like regular car maintenance with a mindset to save, you will recognize that even $5 saved at every oil change makes a difference. You will soon get the mindset that you should save, and the extra effort required to do so will not seem quite so inconvenient. This will be especially true if you see your cash reserve start to grow. The effort required to see that happen will seem like nothing, and soon you will establish habits that make saving money on transportation easy.

These small tactics can result in a dollar saved here and a dollar saved there, but if you save a dollar each time you get in the car, how much would you save in the space of a year? Probably close to $500 or more.
