Tips for cutting back on expenses without cutting back on the enjoyment of life

The following are some great tips for cutting back on expenses without cutting back on the enjoyment of life:

Tip one: Just change your timing a bit. People love to go out, see movies, eat nice meals at fancy restaurants, etc. However, this can really get expensive. One way to cut costs here without cutting back on the enjoyment of life is to change your timing. Go to the earlier movie showings. Matinee prices are usually half of the regular price. Go out to lunch instead of dinner. Usually the food is just as good, often you get the same items that are on the dinner menu, and even the same portion sizes, but at a fraction of the price. So, change your time and save some money. The same holds true for day of the week. It is more expensive to go out on weekends then week days, and you are more likely to spend more as well.

Tip two: Find some good friends. One of the best ways to cut out expenses in life without cutting back on enjoyment is to curb your spending in the entertainment area. This is hard to do without cutting back enjoyment unless you find a friend. If you can find people you enjoy spending time with that you can play games with and rent movies with instead of go out to expensive activities with, you will save tons of money but still have just as much fun. So, find some friends who enjoy cooking dinner and playing card games, stay home and have fun. This eliminates the cost of service charges, tips, baby sitters, and expensive movies. You can still get a tasty dinner, have your children well tended (let's face it, usually half the time your baby sitter is around your kids are asleep.) and enjoy good company, but do it all for less. So, find a friend and save some cash.

Tip three: Look for bargains. It is always fun to hit a professional sports game, go to an amusement park, buy a new movie, cd, etc. However, you do not have to pay full price to enjoy doing these things. Look on Craigslist, the local classifieds, ebay, overstock.com, etc. You can find all sorts of things you want at a portion of the price. Tickets to events such as concerts, plays, sports, etc. usually sell on e-bay, and can usually be purchased for half of the typical cost. So, check for bargains before buying tickets to something, you will likely be able to find one.

Tip four: Pre-buy. If you can plan ahead you can usually cut costs without cutting enjoyment. A lot of times tickets for events are less expensive if you purchase them before the date of the event, not at the door. Usually if you have an activity planned you will run across a coupon for it, or find someone who knows how to get a deal, but this is not possible if you do not plan in advance. So make some plans in advance and look for bargains. Pre-buy when you can. Also planning ahead means being able to pack your own drinks for a theme-park (concession stands are pricey), bring your own camera instead of paying high prices for photos, bring a sack lunch, snacks, etc.

It is possible to have fun and pay less for it, you just have to be willing to look for the deal and be patient.
