What is stock research?


Stock research is an important aspect of investing in the stock market that will help you invest your money wisely by giving you the knowledge you need to make informed decisions. When it comes to stocks, information is crucial for investing your money in stocks that have a better than average chance to make you money rather than lose it. In order to determine whether a company will provide a profitable stock return, a number of things should be taken into consideration. One of the places that allows you to access stock information for free is Yahoo Finance. This site features a wealth of materials and features that allow you to research your own stocks.

How do I use Yahoo Finance to research stocks?
Yahoo Finance is user-friendly, so researching your stocks will not be difficult. First, go to their website at http://finance.yahoo.com/. You can also go to the Yahoo home page and click on their "finance" link. Once there, you have a number of options. The "investing" tab at the top will have a drop down menu; select "stock," and it will take you directly to the stock page, which will provide you with a number of options.

Once in the stocks page, you will have a number of links for your research, including Stock Research Tools, company earnings, company reports, and many others. This page will provide you with all the tools you need to conduct your research. Some of these features include:
Stock screener. This tool allows you to screen your own stocks. Stock allows you to find stocks by entering in certain criteria, then displaying all of the stocks that meet your specific criteria. The stock screener lets you to search thousands of potential stocks using a number of different criteria, including price-earning ratios, bargain growth, or large cap value. You can create your own stock screener screen, or you can use a number of preset screens.
Annual reports. You can find a company's annual reports for free on Yahoo Finance. This information is useful for your stock research, and companies can be searched alphabetically, by company name, or browsed by industry type.
Financial calendars. This stocks research link allows you to see a company's financial calendars. You can search by IPOs, stock splits, mergers, and other pertinent information.

In order to make the best decisions about what stocks to buy and sell, it's important for investors to carefully research the market data. Yahoo Finance is an excellent tool that will provide you with the research tools needed to determine which stocks are right for you.
