What kinds of insurance beyond health should you get and when
Most people know that they should have health insurance, but that is the only type of insurance that they have, and they are not sure what other kind of insurance to get, and when to get it.
The following are some of the kinds of insurance beyond health insurance that you should get and when:

Life insurance: Life insurance is a great type of insurance to invest in. It can help you feel more comfortable with your ability to maintain your lifestyle, and not lose your home, etc. should tragedy befall your family. It is an important type of insurance to get, however, it is a terrible insurance to get if you can not afford it. If paying for your life insurance is going to put you in a bind, and make it so you can't pay other bills, you should forgo it for a time, or at least get a small policy to cover just the cost of a funeral should something happen. When you can better afford it, be sure to get enough coverage to cover your debts, and at least 5 years of your income and expenses.
Dental: Your mouth is connected to your body, and thus the health of your mouth greatly affects your overall health. If you can't afford to get dental work done your health as a whole may suffer, which is why it is important to get dental insurance. Thus, getting dental insurance is important. Most dental insurance, unless on a group policy, must be in place at least 6 months before any work beyond regular check ups and cleanings will be covered. So keep this in mind when determining when to get it. Most dental insurance still leaves a lot of the cost up to the individual, so it will not make sense to get dental insurance if even at the discounted rate you can't afford to get work done.
Long term care: This is a great insurance to have if you think you will ever need long term care, such as living in a nursing home etc. Such care is extremely expensive, and thus so is the insurance. So, when you should get long term care insurance is when you can afford it, and it does not hurt your ability to pay bills etc. You will want to look at your ability to afford it now, and in the future however, as it will do you little good to pay for it, if you have to drop coverage when you hit 65 because you can't afford it on a fixed income.
Obvious insurance:
Car: You can't legally drive without having your car insured, however, it is worth mentioning that you should get it insured, and depending on what type of car you drive, the value, and your ability to afford a car should yours get wrecked, you should consider comprehensive automobile insurance, including collision, etc. You should get automobile insurance as soon as you get an automobile
House or rental insurance: this is a great insurance to have. You will want both structural insurance and insurance on your contents. You will want to take a video camera and tape your rooms of your house so that you know what the contents of your home really are incase of flood or fire. Get replacement value insurance. You will want to get such insurance as soon as you have a home or rental property you are responsible for.
