apple30755950.jpgIt is a proven fact that individuals that eat right and exercise daily live longer, healthier lives. The healthier you can live, the better quality of life you will lead. No matter what your motivation is for getting healthy, here are 5 natural ways to help your health:

Reduce stress
Stress is a common part of our lives, but too much stress can be detrimental to your health. It is important to look for ways to reduce your stress load if you would like to live a longer, healthier life. Reducing stress is not only important for your nervous system; it also helps to improve your cardiovascular health. How can you reduce stress? First, start with deep breathing exercises. You should practice deep breathing every time you start to feel overwhelmed. Second, listen to relaxing music and practice daily meditation. Listen to a recording of the ocean waves for 30 minutes and shut your eyes and allow your mind to just relax. Finding a `happy place' and going there when you start to feel stress building up will allow you to calm down. Third, exercise daily. Daily exercise helps to release the tension in your muscles. Yoga is a great exercise to try if you want to reduce stress because it combines meditation with strength training. Fourth, make time to go to the spa and have regular massages. Massaging your muscles also releases tension and it will calm your nervous system. Fifth, grab a book and curl up by the fire or head outside and read for an hour or two. Reading allows the mind to explore a different world and it's a wonderful way to get away from the daily stress you are under.

Drink Water
Don't reach for the soda can or coffee when you need a pick me up. Instead opt for plain old water. Water helps to flush out the toxins from your body. Since your body drinks from your colon, you want to make sure and drink plenty of water to ensure that your body is getting clean water sent to the bloodstream, kidneys, and other organs. Drink water with some natural vitamin ingredients like Vitamin B-12, and Vitamin C. This is a great way to get the extra energy you need in the morning or in the afternoon.

Eat Vegetables
Instead of grabbing for candy bars and sweets, reach for vegetables. Carrots contain natural sugars that you may be craving for a snack in between meals. Deep green vegetables are heart-healthy and they are known to help prevent cancer and other medical conditions. Eating right will build up your immune system, keeping you safe from catching illnesses and allowing you to get better quicker if you do unfortunately catch a virus.

Rest
Rest is an easy way to improve your health. Allow yourself to get at least 8-10 hours of sleep each night to properly rejuvenate your body. Think to times when you are sick, do you find that you are in bed all day because you are tired? This is because your body heals itself when it is allowed to rest. Giving your body the proper rest it needs will also allow you to keep the immune system healthy and ready to fight off illness.

Exercise
We all know that exercise is good for us, but if you want to stay healthy, you need to exercise at least 30 minutes a day. Consider changing up the way you exercise if you don't like to walk or run. Some people dread exercise which is why you should purchase a Wii Fit or a game like Dance Dance Revolution. This is a great way to get your body moving while you have a lot of fun.
