A guide to applying mascara like a pro

Mascara is not as easy as it looks to apply, at least not if you want to get that great model lash look. If you struggle with poor coverage, clumps, etc. it may not be your mascara, it may be your application. The following are a few useful tips for applying mascara like a pro:
Tip #1: Start your mascara at the base of your lashes instead of the tips. This will give them the illusion of length. You will want to start at the base and wiggle as you go up your lash. Then you want to close the eye and place the mascara wand on top of lashes at the base and pull through to remove any clumps.

Tip #2: Learn how to use a lash comb, it can really a great for you if you want to get glob free, perfectly separated lashes. Put your lash comb at the base of your lashes and wiggle through to the tips. If you want to get rid of the clumps without using the wand, then wipe the wand on a tissue before you apply the makeup.
Tip #3: Use a spoolie, which is a clean mascara wand. The way to use this is you simply sweep it through your lashes when they are wet. Do not go out and buy a new wand, just clean a wand from an old mascara tube and keep it when you toss the old tube out. Clean it with makeup remover then soap and water. Dry it out, and just be sure to clean it again every few months or so.
Tip #4: Know what mascara looks good on you, for example, consider using a colored mascara. The rule says that black works for everyone, but should only be used at night if you are blonde as it can be a bit harsh. However, blue can brighten eyes, purple makes brown eyes pop, and other colors can add fun. So, consider spending that ten bucks or less to try a color out and see what it can do for you.
Tip #5: Use a thin, short brush for applying your mascara, as it will let you get in the corners and have more control over your mascara application.
Tip #6: Coat the ends and tips better by blinking into the wand.
Tip #7: If you want to keep your mascara from smudging then be sure to powder under the eye before applying mascara.
Tip #8: make your eyes wider and brighter by curling your lashes, but be sure to blow hot air from your blow dryer on the curler for 3-5 seconds first. Touch it first to make sure it's not too hot.
Tip #9: Zig-zag the wand. Zig-zagging the wand back and forth during application helps cut down clumps, and makes for better application.
Tip #10: For a dramatic look, apply mascara only to the upper lashes as it will make it look wider, and give you a nice look. You can put a light coat on the bottom of your lashes if you put a tissue under them so that it does not get on your skin.
There are plenty of other tricks for applying mascara like a pro, such as bending the wand for better application, or to use a primer first, but no matter what you do, just make sure you are careful about the application and do not blink too soon or you might get black smudges on your lids.
