A look at different forms of aerobics

Are you interested in staying fit and keeping healthy? If you are, then you need to be involved in doing some type of aerobic activity. There are a lot of different kinds of aerobic activities, such as jogging, swimming, bike riding, dancing, running, and jumping. In addition to these activities, you can also participate in an aerobic dance class, which is one of the most common forms of aerobics today. You can go to many local gyms to find a whole bunch of aerobics classes offered. In fact, aerobic dance classes are so popular today that they often are just known as "aerobics." Here is a look at some of the different forms of aerobics that there are:

  • Step aerobics: One of the forms of aerobics that is really popular is step aerobics. In a step class, you will do basic dance moves, while you are stepping up and down on "step boards." There is a class instructor who helps to show you when to step and what dance moves to do. In addition, you do these dance moves to music. Step aerobics are a great form of exercise and really works on a person's thighs and gluts. Step classes, like most aerobic classes, can be found on a basic, intermediate, and advanced level. You might also find these classes are also called low impact, intermediate, and high impact classes. In addition, some forms of step exercise can also be found on aerobic television shows, so you can also stay at home to do your step aerobics. If you do this option, you will want to purchase your own set of aerobic exercise step boards.
  • Jazz or dance aerobics: Dancing is a popular form of aerobics, and many women have really enjoyed doing jazz aerobics. One of the popular forms of jazz or dance aerobics today is called Jazzercise. This is a great form of exercise for all types of women, and you can make the movements as intense and "high impact" as you would like them to be. If you want high impact movements, you will swing your arms and kick your legs with a lot of energy, and if you want low impact classes you will do the movements with less energy. You can also find jazz or dance aerobic workouts on videos and DVDs. This way, you can work on the same aerobic workouts at home, over and over, until you master the routine! Some people are embarrassed to go to the gym and work out, and having aerobic exercise videos are a better option for these people.
  • Water aerobics: Another different form of aerobics is water aerobics. Water aerobic classes take place in a swimming pool. This is probably the "latest craze" that has come to the aerobic world, and water aerobic classes are located everywhere. With water aerobics, you are able to exercise every part of your body easily. This is a low impact form of exercise, most of the aerobic movements can also be done outside of a pool. However, the water makes a great form of low resistance for your body, and it also is a safe location where you don't have a lot of risk (more people get hurt doing movements outside of the water than inside!). Water aerobics are also easy on your joints, so if you have arthritis or any other type of joint problem, then water aerobics might be for you.
These are the main different forms of aerobics. Each form is different, but they each can help you to get your heart moving and do some great aerobic exercise!
