Anxiety, things to know that help
If you suffer from anxiety life can be difficult, but that does not mean you can't do anything about it. Let's take a look at some of the things you can do and know to help your anxiety.
First, what are the symptoms of anxiety? Knowing the symptoms can help you to treat your anxiety. If you do not really even know that you have it, how can you treat it? Here are some of the common symptoms:
|
|
- Excessive worry that is disproportionate to the situation.
- Muscle tension, restlessness or shakiness.
- Palpitations, butterflies, or nervousness.
- Being on edge, concentration problems or insomnia.
Obviously you can have one or two of these symptoms on occasion and not be suffer from anxiety, but if you have multiple of these symptoms, or if you worry that you suffer from anxiety, then seek help. You can get help in the form of counseling or psychotherapy.
When you get help for your anxiety problem, your therapist will ask you to explore your thought processes. They will help you see many times your anxiety is caused by thoughts, and the types of thoughts you have. If your thoughts are frequently fearful, pessimistic, dreadful, or other downer thoughts, then they will probably lead to anxiety.
A lot of people who suffer from anxiety suffer as a result of a conflict or major experience in their past. Sometimes past events really affect your current levels of anxiety. If your history is still affecting your present, then that is what needs to be addressed.
If you suffer from anxiety, you can help it with various forms of relaxation. So, what you are going to do is work toward finding a relaxing place each and every time feelings of anxiety start to well up. So, if you worry, subdue those troubles by relaxing. This might start with learning how to change your thought patterns so that you have more relaxing thoughts instead of thoughts that are pessimistic, scary, or causing you anxiety.
If you suffer from a lot of anxiety, a great thing you can do to help combat it is to recognize the consequences of your anxiety. If you realize what you are doing to yourself and to others each time you let your thoughts turn pessimistic and let anxiety take over, you may be able to use that as a catalyst to help you get over it.
If you have tried everything and you are still sucking at kicking the anxiety, consider having your therapist try hypnosis with you. Sometimes your mind needs to be convinced that it is okay and there is no impending doom coming. When you are hypnotized, your therapist can talk to your subconscious, and help it adjust.
You need to come to an awareness of your relapse triggers and constructive ways to manage them. Your therapist can help you to figure this out, and can help you determine what to do to manage your anxiety.
A lot of times, the way you live either fuels your anxiety or hinders your recovery from it. So, you need to look at your living situation. Are there things you can change to help it be more peaceful for you? The same holds true for your work. Is your job creating undue stress and anxiety in your life? Can you change that and stay in the same career, or do you need to change careers too?
Last but not least, you do not need to hide your fears, but find a way to better express your fears instead of through anxious thoughts. You may want to come up with a better way to manage those feelings.
Last but not least, look for someone who can support you when you need help with your anxiety.
