At home pedicure tips and tricks

You love the feel of your feet right after you visit the salon, but that adds up fast and takes a lot of time out of your day.
Giving yourself a pedicure at home can give you that great feeling without the big price tag. There are a few tricks to make your at home pedicure as good as a salon pedicure.

- Start with a nice soak for your feet. You can invest in a foot bath if you are going to be doing them regularly. If you don't have a foot bath then just a tub of water will work great.
- The water should be very warm. Some people like the water just as hot as they can stand it, others like it just warm. The goal is to relax your muscles and enjoy a break, cold water is going to reverse that.
- You can invest in oils or salts to put in the water. This will make your feet even softer and make your pedicure smell good too!
- When your feet have soaked for a good length of time, it is time scrub them. Use a pumice stone or a loofa to get the dead skin and calices off. Make sure that the stone is wet when you are scrubbing with it.
- After that you should use lotion for a great massage. Make sure that you take time for each toe and each part of the foot. This is the best part, so don't hurry through it. Make it last, your feet will love you for it.
- Don't forget the cuticle cream! This is going to make your nails healthy and when your cuticles are under control your feet look lots better.
- Toe separators make it easier to paint your toe nails, which is a great way to finish up a pedicure. If you don't have a toe separator then you can be creative on how you separate, but stay away from using cotton as a separator, it can ruin a perfect painting job.
- When you are filing your toe nails use an emery board. If you are using a metal file then you are going to do more damage to your nails than good. Be sure that you are taking time when you are filing and that you are making them evenly shaped.
- Pick a fun nail color and have fun painting. Try decorations and decals for fun nails! You can pick a neutral color that goes with everything, or pick a crazy color and make your toes stand out!
- Getting a pedicure regularly is a great way to maintain beautiful, healthy feet. You can do them on your own or at a salon, but make sure that you have a regular pedicure scheduled.
- Find a friend or friends to do pedicures with! This makes it so that you can massage each others feet, because lets face it, a massage is always better coming from someone else.
- Make sure that you clean your foot bath or you soaking tub after each pedicure so that germs are killed and fungus doesn't spread. If there is more than one person using it then it should be cleaned in between each use.
- The summertime is a popular time for taking care of your feet because it is sandal season. But don't neglect your feet during the winter, which is when they need it the most.
- Change up your colors each time you paint for a fun variety! Keep everyone guessing, better yet, keep them on their toes!
