Best exercise to build your butt muscles.

Building your butt muscles can be quite a challenge but if you have the drive and determination you are already halfway there to achieving your muscle building goals. Some of the best exercises for building your butt muscles you can perform in the privacy of your own home without a personal trainer or fancy exercise equipment. If you are fortunate enough to have the resources to have a personal trainer or to own exercise equipment then go for it.

A personal trainer is a professional in exercises that build and strengthen muscles in the entire body. Exercise equipment is used to help with the muscle building process, although it can be costly and sometimes not as effective as they claim, but then again some equipment can produce the desired results without costing much. Before buying any exercise equipment do some research, find out what the previous consumers have rated the machine, better yet join a gym and see for yourself which exercise machines you prefer using to achieve your fitness goals.

Keep in mind total body fitness is the key to building muscle. If building your muscles in your butt is your main concern, then a majority of your workout may be dedicated to strengthening your butt muscles, but remember to exercise your other body muscles as well. And above all eat right.

Many of us aren't quite as lucky to have a personal trainer and/or don't like the idea of "furnishing our home" with exercise equipment. There are several highly effective exercises to build and strengthen muscles. Some of the best butt exercises are easily done with no equipment. Many of these exercises may not seem like "exercise" at all.

One such exercise you can do anywhere and everywhere without even working up a sweat. Start by tightening your butt muscles, by clenching both of your butt "cheeks" together firmly, then hold that position as long as possible, then repeat. Repeat this exercise until you can do no more. This exercise can be done while watching TV, while cooking dinner or even while standing in line at the grocery store. Not only does this exercise build your butt muscles it also helps tighten your abs and the back of your thigh muscles.

Another exercise that builds and strengthens butt muscles is "hill sprints". Find a hill that is at least 50 yards in length but no more than 100 yards. Before beginning this workout always warm up by doing some light stretching for 5-10 minutes. Start off by walking up the hill then down, using a firm, quick walking style. Perform this exercise 20-30 minutes every day. Once the walking starts to become easy, switch to jogging up the hill, jog at a steady pace. Also for 20-30 minutes every day. When jogging becomes too easy, run up the hill at a steady pace and firm running style. And finally switch from running up the hill to sprinting up the hill. Your sprints should be strong and fast movements, like wild bears are chasing you. When doing sprints up the hills only do 10 rather than 20-30 minutes.

You may also try in the beginning alternating walking and jogging, one day performing walking up the hill, the next jogging up the hill. Then alternate jogging and running. Eventually alternating running up the hill and sprinting up. This is a very effective exercise that builds butt muscles while building several other muscles in your body but may not be a workout that can be performed all year long depending on your location. I don't recommend trying "hill sprints" on a snow covered hill.

Some other exercises that you should add to your workout that also strengthen and build butt muscles are various forms of squat exercises along with lunge exercises.
