Don't waste money on exercise equipment you won't use

Did you know that it is estimated that 80% of home exercise equipment is not used after the first year? Do you know what this means? It means a whole lot of wasted money. For the price of purchasing home exercise equipment, you could probably get a gym pass for that year with a personal trainer. So, if you are thinking about buying home exercise equipment, you want to make sure that you are actually going to use it, and for more than a year so that you do not waste your money. The following are some of the things you can do to ensure that you do not waste money on exercise equipment you will not use.

First and foremost you need to know how to use exercise equipment. If you buy it, and do not know how to use it, you have wasted your money, because who is going to teach you? How are you going to learn? Are you planning to read a manual? Are you planning to "figure" it out? Chances are if you do not know how to use it already, you won't learn. You will get frustrated, and pretty soon that expensive equipment ends up in the garage as a dust collector.

Next, you have to already be motivated to work out. If you are buying a piece of exercise equipment to motivate yourself, you are wasting your money. If you have dreams of great muscle tone, weight control, health, and fitness, you have to already be motivated to work out, not trying to buy something that will motivate you. So, borrow equipment, or work out without it by jogging, doing pushups etc. until you are sure that you are totally fired up about working out and will continue to do so after the purchase of the expensive equipment.

It is always a good idea to be a veteran of exercise before you buy equipment. Beginning exercisers don't use 2/3 of the home exercise equipment they buy. So, you may be buying equipment to improve your fitness and to get started, but there are better options. Enjoy an active lifestyle before you buy equipment and you will likely use your equipment.

Do not mislead yourself into thinking you will use it because you did your due diligence buying it. Too many people think that if they really do their due diligence in buying the equipment that they are serious. Just because you researched and looked for the best deal, found the best piece of equipment for whatever you want to work out does not mean that you will. Thinking about exercise, talking about exercise, researching exercise and purchasing home exercise equipment is not exercise. So, make sure you already exercise, already use that equipment you purchase before you purchase it.

Next, you don't want to buy a piece of equipment that claims to do it all. For example, if you think you can work your entire body out with one thing, you are being fooled, and you will be frustrated by the fact that you are not getting the results as quickly as you want to. This means that you are going to quit using it. So, instead of turning your hard earned cash into a dust collector, go to the gym, use the equipment, learn how to use it, and know what pieces of equipment you enjoy using before you buy!
