Everything you need to know to hide that hickey

Uh oh! You've got a hickey! Don't worry though-you don't have to hide your head in the sand like an ostrich. You can have your fun on Friday nights and hang out with your friends the next day by hiding the evidence. Here's everything you need to know about how to use a combination of concealer and foundation to hide those hickeys.
What is a hickey?
A hickey happens when you let your boyfriend spend a little too much time on your neck. See, the skin on your neck is really sensitive and really thin. So if somebody has been kissing it pretty vigorously and a little bit hard, then the blood vessels under your skin will break. And then the capillaries-which are the tiniest blood vessels in your body-will start to show up right under your skin. Basically, you've just gotten a bruise. But the placement of this bruise lets everyone know what exactly you were up to the night before.

Never fear! You can hide this hickey! Here's how.
Hide a hickey through a careful combination of concealer and foundation
You can hide a hickey by carefully using your concealer and your foundation. But be careful not to clump it on there! More is not necessarily better in this situation, since if you have a huge patch of makeup on your neck, you're only going to draw people's attention over there.
Buy a concealer or a foundation brush. This is what you will use to get a flawless finish when you apply the concealer and the foundation to your skin. A brush will give you a smooth and blended finish and will help blend the foundation directly into your skin.
As an alternative, you can get just grab a makeup sponge. Get the sponge a little bit wet. Then apply the combination concealer and foundation (see below) to the area. Blend it well. Wait a little bit to let it dry, and then apply another layer. Smooth in the edges to blend the area into your skin.
Take a look at your foundation. Is it light and oil free? If you have a particularly nasty hickey on your neck, then you are going to need heavier coverage. While it isn't necessary, you might want to think about heading to the store and purchasing a heavier coverage foundation. Make sure that you match the color perfectly to your neck, which might be a slightly different tone and shade than your face.
Mix together your foundation and your concealer. This will give you more even coverage and can help you blend the mixture into your neck. Dip your foundation brush or your makeup sponge into the mixture. Gently dab it into your neck.
Carefully blend the edges into your skin; don't just cover the hickey itself. You want to make sure that the makeup is the same color as the surrounding skin.
Don't put on too much concealer and foundation, because this will make things more obvious. Just make sure that everything is well blended, and you should be just fine. The evidence is hidden!
You also can apply baby powder to the area after you have applied the makeup. Or you might want to try just using baby powder itself.
No matter what, you need to make sure to avoid the classic method of hiding the hickey: the turtle neck. Unless it's the middle of winter and you have an extra cute turtle neck, using this approach will just clue everyone else in on what went on. Foundation and concealer are a much easier, and a much less obvious way to go!
