Millions of people are having miracle laser eye surgery done every year. You might have heard of lasik or lasek surgery, techniques that change the shape of the cornea with a laser in order to help the eye perform much better. If you have ever hated your glasses or contacts, you might want to look into the surgery. It usually only takes about twenty minutes, and in just a few days following the surgery your eyes should be able to see much better and you might not even need to use those contacts or glasses ever again. But what if you are farsighted? Most people know that lasik is primarily used on people with nearsightedness. For those of us with hyperopia, a defect that makes it so that a person can see objects far away clearly but not close up, lasik can be used to help your vision.

In most cases what laser eye surgery does is to reshape the cornea and to remove defects on the eye. In most cases of eye defects the problem is that the eye is slightly mishapen. This means that as light enters the eye is is bent incorrectly and does not fall on the retina in the manner in which it should. The resulting image is blurred or incomplete because of the defect. Also, if there are any build ups or spots on the surface of the eye, these can also bend the light in inappropriate ways. Hyperopia is one of these defects, with the result being a loss of visual acuity when looking at objects near the eye.

So this means that your farsightedness can be cured through lasik eye surgery. You will have to figure out what type of laser eye surgery will work best to fix your farsightedness. Research various methods and talk with a doctor. Have a thorough eye exam performed and talk with your doctor about the options. There is a good chance that there is a method out there that would seriously improve your eyesight.

In just twenty minutes you could have your farsightedness virtually eliminated, meaning that you would not have to use glasses or contacst anymore. You would not be seriously impaired when you tried to read a book or look at the directions on a prescription. Your life could be much, much easier with some minor surgery. The recovery time would also probably be no more than one or two days. You might also want to investigate wavefront technology, which is a recent technique revolutionizing the industry. Wavefront sends a beam of light into the eye in order to map the spots where there are defects in the eye. The doctor can then use this map to accurately find the problem spots in the eye and eliminate them with a laser. You should talk with your doctor to see if his or her clinic offers wavefront technology. With this new procedure your laser eye surgery could be much more precise and effective.

So for those of us who suffer from farsightedness there is a possible cure. If you hate wearing glasses or contacts all the time, you could have your solution. Although laser eye surgery does not work for everyone, the chances are that a surgeon in your area could effectively improve your eyesight. After you have researched different options, choose a clinic and doctor who are highly experienced. Don't wait to get this wonderful procedure done-every day you wait is another day you have to deal with glasses or contacts. Good luck with that lasik!
