Loosing weight does not have to be rocket science. Loosing weight and eating healthy is as easy as starting with eliminating foods that aren't good for you. Below is just such a list of foods to eliminate in order to start loosing weight:

Condiments
Mayonnaise, fry sauce, gravy, cheese toppings, anything that you use to spread or pour over something in order to add more flavors is usually going to be something unhealthy that you would be better off without. Use natural juices or fruit juices to add moisture and seasonings to add flavor.

Soda
The sugar, carbonation and caffeine in soda can be done without. In addition to being empty calories, sugary drinks can harm your teeth and caffeine may give you a false sense of energy at first, but once the effect wears off you will most likely suffer from a more intense low than you had to begin with. Once your body begins to crave caffeine it is hard to break the cycle. Instead make sure that you are drinking plenty of water (at least 6-8 glasses a day) or low fat milk.

Sweets
Yes, you knew it was coming. Sweets and sugar loaded treats do nothing for your health and everything to hinder your desire for a shrinking waistline. It is ok to have a small treat now and them, but only on special occasions.

Fried foods
Frying foods is one of the unhealthiest methods of food preparation. Deep frying chicken, french fries, onion rings, etc. adds unhealthy fats to your diet that can lead to very serious health problems. Trans fats and saturated fats are unhealthy fats that do two things that raise the risk of developing heart disease:

  1. Trans fats and saturated fats raise blood levels of so-called bad cholesterol (LDL-cholesterol). LDL-cholesterol is a risk factor for heart disease.

  2. Trans fats lower blood levels of so-called good cholesterol (HDL-cholesterol), but Saturated fats will raise HDL cholesterol. HDL-cholesterol protects against heart disease.

Most of the trans fat in a typical diet comes from margarines (especially margarines made to stay hard at room temperature because of trans fat), commercially fried foods and bakery products that are made with shortening, margarine or oils containing partially hydrogenated oils and fats. More products high in trans and saturated fats include crackers, cookies, donuts, cakes, pastries, muffins, croissants, snack foods and fried foods, such as french fries and breaded foods. Typically, in these products, up to 45% of the fat content may be trans fatty acids!

Processed foods: processed cheese, flour, meat (ground with skins), etc.

When a food is processed at least one of two things happens to it; both the good and healthy nutrients are lost or unhealthy preservatives and other additives are added. Stick with fresh produce. You will receive almost every essential vitamin and nutrient that your body needs on a diet of strictly vegetables and fruit. There is no need to buy processed foods.

Second helpings or large portions
Super sizing portions, especially when it comes to fast food, is definitely a practice that you will need to change if you are serious about loosing weight. You can counter the effects of weight loss by eating too much food even if it is nutritious food. Remember that everything that you eat should be in moderation. You can talk to your doctor or refer to the USDA caloric intake recommendations for your body type. Eating more small meals during the day can also help you to not overeat at any one meal.

Keep in mind that eliminating these unhealthy foods will not help you to loose weight if you replace then with equally unhealthy alternatives. Changing your eating habits will not be easy but your hard work will pay of if you are truly dedicated to making a change.
