Having beautiful healthy hair is an asset to you. Your hair says a lot about you and having healthy hair says that you care about your appearance. Especially if you pay special attention to styling and making sure your hair looks perfect for every occasion, chances are that your hair may need a little damage control. Here are a few easy steps that will help you get stronger, healthier hair.

Don't shampoo so much

Everyone worries about having clean hair everyday but what they don't know is that washing their hair everyday is damaging. Washing your hair every day strips it of its protective oils and can leave it looking lifeless. Instead, wash your hair every other day, or even better, every third day. You will notice that your hair is healthier just for the fact that it is not so clean!

Leave it alone

Your hair needs a break! To give your hair back its strength, try doing less to it. Let your hair air dry instead of using the blow dryer so often. Avoid using hot rollers, straightening irons and curling irons as much as you normally would. This will help your hair start to heal and prevent the usual damage that these things cause.

Cut it

Have your hair trimmed regularly. Getting rid of dead split ends will help prevent those ends from splitting further up the hair strand. Keep your hair healthier and give it a polished look by having it trimmed every four to six weeks. No matter what a product tells you, it can produce it cannot repair split ends! The only thing that will help your split ends is cutting them off.

Use strengthening products

Start at the basics by using a good quality shampoo and conditioner that is specific to your hair type. When you have that covered check into other products like a proteinizer and a reconstructor. Try checking with your local beauty supply store for products like these if your salon does not have them. The proteinizer will give your hair the strength it needs and a reconstructor will help to replace what your hair is missing on a molecular level.
Using products that have added shine enhancers like silicone will help protect your hair from damage from styling tools. It will help your hair look healthier and stronger too while working to actually provide those things.

Avoid those things that are unhealthy

Ok, your hair had to become damaged somehow! Be good to your hair and try to avoid those things that damaged your hair in the first place. Not to say avoid them all together but at least try to do them considerably less.

Chemically processed hair is usually the least healthy, so if you dye or perm your hair try to avoid it for a while until these steps have started to help strengthen your hair. Try using alternatives to things like coloring your hair like using a semi-permanent hair color that adds color without the harsh chemicals. Then try to avoid other things that damage your hair like too much sun and chlorine. Try to remember to cover up your hair when you go out in the sun or head off to the pool for a swim. Tight elastic band can also be pretty detrimental to your hair. Try to use a clip or a wide, soft elastic banc to pull back your hair instead of using small elastic bands to put your hair into a pony tail these can pull and break off your hair leaving behind damage.

If you are like most people you want to have beautiful, healthy, noticeably radiant hair. There are many ways to strengthen your hair and help keep it healthy and looking great. Try using any combinations of the steps above to give yourself the hair you deserve.
