Going from work look to night look in a few easy steps
Let's face it, the make-up you wear to work is usually far different from the make-up you wear when you go out on the town. Work make-up is typically more conservative, and it is the evening makeup that becomes a lot of fun.
The question becomes how can you go from work make-up to evening make-up easily, and without having to start completely over? Transitioning from work to evening is actually pretty easy if you prep yourself the right way.

For a great work look you want to do a few things. Start with a tinted moisturizer or a foundation to even out your skin tones and make your skin look better. Then just wear mascara to help out your eyes. You do not want to put any more eye make-p than that on for work or it will be harder to transition to your evening look. Then put on a gloss or lipstick to give your lips some oomph and moisture.
Once work is out, you are going to take your look to the next level by either giving yourself a more dramatic eye, such as a smokey eye, or a more dramatic lip. You do not want to do both. Too much is too much, so give yourself a classy, great evening look by playing up one of your features, eyes or lips, but not both.
Once work is over, you will want to take some concealer and touch up any areas that need retouching, but you should already have your foundation in place. Now follow the directions below for the smokey eye look or red luscious lips. Either of these are a fast way to go from day to evening with your makeup.
For the Smokey Eye
1. Put eyeliner on both the top and bottom lashes, but smudge it in. if you use too dark of one, you will look older, so go for shimmer. Then take an eye shadow primer, and a apply. Then use shimmery shadow on the lid. Don't apply any more mascara unless your earlier application has rubbed completely off, otherwise you will likely have clumpy lashes.
2. Now that your eyes look great, compliment them with a dab of shimmery blush to cheeks.
3. Now powder your face lightly so your makeup stays in place.
4. Finish off your face with a light lipstick or gloss.
For Deep Red Lips
1. Do not make your eyes the focus, instead, simple cover unsightly veins on eyelids with a matte eyeshadow in a color that's as close as your skin tone as possible.
2. Give your cheeks a little something extra by applying very light shimmery blush.
3. Line lips and fill in with your favorite red color.
4. Powder face to help everything stay in place.
If you want to take your hair from work to evening here are some suggestions:
1. For straight, medium-length hair, wash hair and blow it 2/3rds dry in the morning, then twisting it into a low bun (a few unkempt strands are very sexy). Undo hair for the evening, and you will have gorgeous waves. You will just want to hair spray it a little.
2. For curly, long hair, an unkempt up-do is very sexy. You will want to let hair air dry in the morning, twist ringlets in place with fingers. After work, pull hair up in a modern version of a French twist or messy bun. Another option is to pull hair on the sides back and clip in place with a fancy clip.
3. For short hair, curl hair in the morning then freshen curls before the evening with a curling iron. Spray hair before you go out. You can do this in your office bathroom. You can also accessorize with a headband.
