No matter what style of aerobics you are doing, land or water, there are many benefits that aerobics provides your body. In fact both water and land aerobics will provide you with the same benefits, but because of the resistance of the water (there is no resistance in land aerobics because air has no resistance) you are going to see the benefits sooner with water aerobics. The reason why the same benefits are provided with both land and water aerobics is because you are doing the same types of aerobics, the only difference is the place you are doing them.

Here are some of the ways that aerobics, water or land, can benefit you.

Benefit one:
A huge benefit to aerobics is that it provides you with a great high calorie burning workout, no matter what level of aerobics you are doing. In a normal fifty minute aerobic workout you can burn anywhere from 250 to 400 calories, how much you actually burn depends on your weight and your level of exertion. And one of the best things about burning calories is that you are burning fat at the same time which means it can help you to lose weight. Both water and land aerobics will help you to burn calories and fat, but water aerobics actually burns more calories than land aerobics because of the resistance of the water.

Benefit two:
Another great benefit to aerobics is that it is providing you with a cardiovascular workout which can help to decrease the risk of heart disease, including heart attacks. The reason that it helps to decrease the chance of heart disease is that when doing aerobics you are building up your cardiovascular endurance, which is improving your heart overall. This means that your heart will work better and more efficiently than before. Not to mention that it has been proven that aerobics is a great way to control anxiety and obtain a lowered resting heart rate.

Benefit three:
Aerobics can help your body's endurance and stamina. But in order to increase your body's endurance and stamina aerobics must be performed and practiced on a regular basis, which means that you need to set up a schedule and stick to it when, such as how many times a week and how long of a workout you are going to perform.

Benefit four:
Aerobics also helps to reduce the risk of many health conditions, such as obesity, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, stroke and certain types of cancer. But weight bearing aerobics, meaning land aerobics, can also help to reduce the risk of osteoporosis. But not only can aerobics help reduce the risk of certain health problems it can also help you manage certain chronic conditions such as lowering high blood pressure, controlling blood sugar, prevent more heart attacks after you have suffered from one, and it can help to relieve chronic muscle pain.

Benefit five:
Aerobics also has another benefit that not many people know about because it is not as well known as the other benefits. But in fact if you participate in aerobics you can stay healthier because aerobics activates your immune system, which will leave you less likely to contract minor viral illnesses like colds and flu.

Just remember that before you begin an aerobics workout you are going to want to talk to your healthcare provider. They will be able to tell you what kind of aerobics can benefit you and if you should avoid certain exercises due to physical injuries or certain health conditions such as diabetes.
