Hygiene may seem like a simple thing to do to most people, but many people who have poor hygiene can suffer from moderate to extreme health realted contitions. Hygiene is extremely important to your health and should be taken seriously.
Without good hygiene, there are countless of health realted problems. People with bad hygiene are vulnerable to a wide range of infections and diseases that can harm them and even kill them. Unfortunately, hygiene requirements are not the same everywhere. Hygiene standards are very low around the world and are continually causings intestinal diseases, such as diarrhoea and many others as well. Millions of children all over the world die each year from diseases due to lack of sanitation, unsafe water and unhygienic surroundings.

What are some major diseases that occur because of poor hygiene?
Gingivitis
This is caused by not caring for your teeth. Eventually your gums become swollen and start to bleed. If not properly cared for, you can lose teeth.
Trachoma
Trachoma is an eye infection spread through poor hygiene caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. It can make a person go blind.
Typhoid
This is caused from contaminated food or water which gives you headaches, nausea and takes away your appetite.
Here are some ways to have proper hygiene:
Wash hands
It is extremely important to wash your hands. Hands transmit countless germs, but most people don't wash their hands with soap and water when they should. For example, in the UK, only 30% of people wash their hands after using the restroom and only 43% wash after changing a dirty diaper. Other countries have even worse statistics.
Washing your hands before you prepare food is very important to ensure you don't spread bacteria to your food. It's also important to have clean hands before you sit down to eat your prepared meal. You don't want to spread germs from your hands into your mouth and body. Always, always wash after using the restroom, this ensures that you don't carry fecal or other bacteria to other parts of the body or to other individuals.
Wash your hair
It's so important to keep your hair clean. Washing your hair at least every other day is important not only to keep it healthy, but to make sure you are not more susceptible to housing certain bugs and insects. These creatures love an unclean surface to live in, so take care of yourself. Wash frequently to ensure that it doesn't become greasy and dirty.
Brush and floss your teeth
The mouth is most prone to collecting harmful bacteria and generating infections. Make sure you make it a habit to brush your teeth often, at least two times per day, or after every meal. Frequently brushing will help to reduce the amount of bacteria in your mouth. When bacteria builds up it causes tooth decay and bad breath. Also, don't forget to floss daily too, to get rid of food deposits that build up between teeth. A clean mouth is a happy mouth.
Go to the Dentist
To have and maintain good oral hygiene, it is very important to go to the dentist frequently, at least a few times a year Doing this will ensure that you are taking complete care of your mouth and teeth, which will help cut down on potential bacteria and disease.
Some of these hygiene tips may be common sense to many, but it is extremely important to follow them to help keep your body healthy and strong.
