How not to let the holidays be a headache
The holidays are a wonderful time of year but they are usually filled with stress for many people. Attending numerous family parties, trying to find the right gift, and worrying about getting enough money to pay for those gifts can become overwhelming. However with all those trigger points, one of the biggest things to cause stress during the holidays is dealing with family. While we all love our family, they can sometimes cause unnecessary depression, pain, and stress. To help you deal with the holidays, here are some tips to get through:

- Forget the past memories. A lot of people set themselves up for holiday disasters because they think about their crazy uncle that drives them crazy or their obsessive compulsive mother that tells them what to do. This year, come in with new hopes and don't place big expectations on them. Think about the fun memories that you have had in the past and focus on them the next time your father is telling you what to do.
- Hit the gym more during the holidays. Exercise is one of the best ways to release tension and reduce stress in your life. When the relatives are driving you crazy, head to the gym or do some yoga to stretch out your muscles and get rid of all that pent up frustration you may be feeling.
- Turn a new leaf. For some people, the holidays are frustrating because relatives only want to hear about what you have been up to or you find yourself having the same old conversation year after year.
- Manage your time wisely. The holidays can be pretty stressful because you may find that you over-book yourself. Creating a calendar and properly managing your time will help you stay organized and you won't get stressed out that you don't have enough time to go to parties or to get all your holiday shopping. Prioritize what is important to you. Do you need to go to every single holiday gathering? Going to office parties and to some family parties can stress you out and they can make you miserable. Pick and choosing which parties you need to be at will make it much easier for you to get through the holidays.
- Shop online or shop early. Going to the stores can be extremely frustrating because of all the crowds that are bumping into one another to find the right gift. Looking for your gifts online are easier to find and usually cheaper. Just make sure you order them early enough so that they arrive in time for Christmas.
- Get your life back. Don't let the holidays rule your life. Although traditions are great, you don't always have to follow every single one to the letter. Make some time for yourself to create new traditions. You don't have to make chocolate balls, you don't have to create the most delicious holiday dinner, and you certainly don't need to drink too much just to get through the holidays.
- Budget early to prepare for the holidays and make sure you stick to the budget you create. Avoid using the credit cards because it will cause too much undo stress on you especially when January rolls around.
- Avoid trying to resolve a bunch of old wounds when it comes to gathering at family parties. Try to make the best of a bad situation if you have some bad blood with some of your family members at your next holiday party.
- Get plenty of sunlight. Many people get depressed during the holidays because they don't get outside enough to get enough sunlight. The sunlight will increase your Vitamin D, allowing you to feel happier and you can get through the holidays.
