How to apply concealer and foundation for a natural look.

Start with clean dry, moisturized skin when applying your concealer and foundation. There are many different types and you should always be sure to choose a foundation and concealer that is appropriate to your skin type. These two make up essentials are the most crucial in choice. You must be very selective and make sure that your foundation works well for your skin type. No other make up you buy will be as important as these two items.
After your skin has been cleansed and moisturized you will want to begin by adding concealer to any problem areas that you may want to neutralize. Dot the area and blend the concealer out especially in the under-the-eye area. To cover up blemishes you can use a q-tip. Get a little concealer on the tip and dab it onto the spot you want concealed. Don't forget to blend the edges of the spot you have just concealed. When you are done applying concealer to the area you will begin applying your foundation.

Start by dotting the foundation in the center of your face and blend the foundation out using a makeup sponge. A make up sponge will apply your foundation evenly and blend it naturally. Be certain to pay careful attention to the jaw line and all areas that can be a potential problem. Like the creases around your nose and chin and near the hairline. For a natural blended look be sure to blend the foundation down your neck. It is important to remember not to pull the skin when applying and blending your foundation. It will cause the foundation to be rubbed into your pores.
It is a common misconception that you must apply concealer before foundation. This is not always the case. To get a polished and flawless look apply your concealer both before and after the foundation especially when concealing particularly harsh blemishes, or splotchy red skin. Using a green based concealer is best for getting the best coverage possible.
Next you will want to seal your foundation with a powder base application. Always apply powder with a powder brush. Using an applicator pad will leave a caked-on look to your skin. Most people, when buying a set of makeup brushes, takes the powder brush and uses it to apply their blush. Brushes are designed a certain way for different types of makeup for a reason! The largest brush with the longest bristles is the Powder or Foundation brush. This brush is not designed to apply makeup that must be placed in a certain area of the face.
This brush was designed to cover a large area without such detail to controlled placement of the makeup it is distributing. This is the brush you use to apply powder foundation. The smaller, shorter bristled brush is the blush brush. This brush is intended to apply blush, it applies to the targeted area, blending it well, without getting blush all over your face. Be sure to always use the appropriate brush for foundation powder and blush.
There are a few different types of base that you can use. One type may be more suitable to your particular skin than another. Whether you are using a liquid, stick or compact type cream foundation your application process is pretty much the same. You will definitely want to use a concealer for liquid foundation, but it is up to you whether you want to use one when you use a stick or compact cream type foundation. These types of foundation can be used separately as a concealer as well when applied with a q-tip. However, if you have some particularly difficult area of skin to cover you will want to use a green based concealer to blend your skin.
You can have a beautiful even skin tone not matter what type of skin you have just by learning how to apply concealer and foundation for a natural look.
