If you have ever tried yoga you are probably already aware of how important a great yoga instructor is. But if you are not familiar with yoga you might be unaware of the fact that a great yoga instructor can make a huge difference in your experience. If you are one of those who are unaware of how important having a great yoga instructor is you should take a moment and think about how your teachers in school were. In most cases if you had great teachers you learned a lot, but if you had bad teachers then you didn't learn nearly enough, of course some of this also depended on how dedicated of a student you were. But the same concept holds true with yoga instructors, great yoga instructors are going to make your yoga lessons more worthwhile, not to mention more enjoyable. But if you end up with a mediocre or bad yoga instructor you are not going to get a very good feeling about yoga. Not to mention the fact that if you have a great yoga instructor they are going to be able to point you in the right direction about which type of yoga is right for you.

Here are the steps you should take to find a great yoga instructor.

Step one:
The first thing that you need to do is to do some research about the different styles of yoga. One of the best and fastest places to conduct this research is on the internet.

Step two:
The next thing that you need to do is to decide which style of yoga you think is going to be right for you. Each style is geared towards certain things, such as power yoga, purifying the body, clarifying the mind, relaxing, etc.

Step three:
Now that you have decided on a style of yoga you are going to want to look into where you can go to take yoga classes in that style. Again the internet is a great place to go for this information, but you can also look in your local yellow pages or at fitness centers in your neighborhood.

Step four:
The next thing that you want to do is to talk to any of your family and friends who are currently participating in yoga classes. You want to ask them what they think about their yoga instructors, about any past yoga instructors that they have had, etc. This way you can get a kind of reading on what the different instructors have to offer. But remember you should still keep an open mind because not everybody is going to view the same person the same way.

Step five:
You can also join online yoga groups that are in your area and post questions about what other people think about yoga instructors. See who your fellow group members will recommend and why they recommend that instructor.

Step six:
Now you are going to want to find out about the yoga instructor. To do this you are going to have to gather information about where that person is teaching and see what they have to offer about their yoga instructors. You should also set up a meeting with the yoga instructor so that you can ask any questions about yoga and their teaching styles.

Step seven:
Once you have narrowed it down you should see if you can sit in on a few different yoga classes or even participate in the classes to see exactly how that person teaches so that you can decide if you like their teaching style.

Just keep in mind that you might have to try out more than one instructor before you find a great yoga instructor.
