Aerobics are a great way to get into shape and to keep up a healthy lifestyle. In the last several years aerobics have become more popular and have helped many people to live healthier and more productive lives. Although it is difficult to begin almost any fitness program, whether it be a competitive sport or just an exercise program, after a bit of practice and some determination, you will become much better much more quickly. Don't give up on aerobics if you are just starting. Aerobics can be a great way to get exercise.

The strong and constant aerobic exercise improves the health of your heart and lungs, and you will start to feel the results quickly. Even a couple of months of an aerobics program can help you feel more energetic and happy. It can also help to prevent your body from becoming injured or ill. There are few disadvantages to starting an aerobics program, so if you haven't tried one, give it a try now. If you are experiencing difficulty, one reason might be that you are not warming up well enough. A good warm it is vital to almost every type of exercise. Without warming up you can be easily injured, and your work out will always be better if you have stretched your muscles. One of the real dangers that comes from trying to go from stopping to starting with aerobics is that your body tends to get injured when it doesn't have an in between stage with exercise. It can be very difficult for your heart to jump from a steady, regular beat to a very rapid one, like the one you will have while exercising. Here are some steps for getting a good warm up:

Everyone thinks that lots of stretching is an important part of a warm up, but this can be wrong. If you stretch too heavily before any form of exercise you are more likely to pull a muscle, or tear a muscle. This is because the muscles are not ready to be stretched. You need to do some sort of easy exercise before you stretch.

Start out by doing an easier form of what you will do when you will be doing aerobics. If you will be doing step aerobics, for example, try walking around the gym or your house at a good pace, and maybe going up and down some stairs. Do not warm up with as much gusto as you will have when you are actually doing the aerobics. Take it easy but push yourself a little bit. At this point you can either start your workout or stretch. In some ways it might be better to go strait into the work out, rather than stretching, because stopping to stretch slows down your heart and you will have to go from dead stop into the exercise. It might be best to simply start your aerobics routine at this point, when your heart is going, and then stretch well after you are done.

Be sure to do a cool down after the workout, so that your heart can slow down. Once you have stopped exercising, your muscles are much more ready for a full stretch than before you started. Now is the time to do the majority of your stretching, although, as mentioned above, a little bit before exercising is probably a good idea.
