No matter who you are-what your gender is, what your diet is, what your career is, or what your age is, you need to have a regular aerobics exercise program. A regular aerobics exercise program is the foundation of any health lifestyle. If you want to lose weight, then you absolutely must have a regular aerobics fitness routine. However, even if you aren't looking to lose weight, but you just want to be healthy, then you have to engage in regular aerobic exercise throughout your life.

What is aerobic exercise?
Aerobic exercises are exercises that really get your heart rate going. Aerobic exercises include running, biking, hiking, regular walking, and a number of exercise machines, such as stationary bikes, elliptical machines, stair climbers, and treadmills. Also included in aerobic exercise is choreographed dance routines, which is the most well-known types of aerobic exercise, and is normally just called "aerobics." Choreographed routines are what the majority of people think of when they hear aerobics.

Aerobics are fantastic, no matter what type of exercise, because aerobic exercise is so flexible! You can practice aerobics essentially anywhere-you can run up and down your stairs, you can go walking through your neighborhood, and you can work out with choreographed aerobic routines either at the gym, your local community center, or even in your living room.

What are the advantages of aerobic exercise?

Aerobic exercise has a number of advantages over other types of exercise. Aerobic exercise forces your body to intake large amounts of oxygen. Aerobic exercise make your muscles and your cardiovascular system work extra hard, which means that aerobic exercise really makes your heart much stronger. Why? Because all aerobic exercise requires that you maintain an elevated heart rate for at least twenty minutes, if you're doing it right. But it isn't just your heart that's getting benefits from aerobic exercise. Your blood vessels are improving too, because aerobics helps your blood vessels stay flexible and helps blood flow through them smoothly.

Also, aerobics help you control your weight, because aerobic exercise is the most effective exercise when it comes to burning calories. Aerobic exercise also helps your body maintain flexibility and strength as you age.

How to set an aerobic routine to help you meet your fitness goals

One of the most popular forms of exercise is choreographed aerobic dance. While initially choreographed aerobics were more dance oriented, now the majority of aerobic routines are much more athletically oriented. So now even members of professional football teams participate in choreographed aerobics in order to improve heart strength and flexibility, along with stamina.

If you want to set your own aerobics routines to help you meet your fitness goals, it's pretty easy. First, you need to decide what your fitness goals are. Then, you need to find some aerobics steps. You can either go to your local gym or community center and take an aerobics class, then go home and set your own preferred steps to music that you like.

You can also find a number of instructional videos at your local library or movie store or online. These videos will teach you different aerobics moves, and you can then either simply follow the video's instructions, or you can find your own high energy, fast music so that you can set your own aerobics routines.

Remember: Whenever you are working out with aerobics, you need to keep your heart rate elevated for at least 20 minutes. This means that when you choose your music, it needs to be fast enough to keep your energy up. You also need to choose a combination of steps that will force you to be constantly working, rather than something that will be immediately easy.

Also remember: Before you begin any exercise program, you need to talk to your doctor so that you can develop an exercise routine that is safe for you and will help you achieve your fitness goals.
