How to use household items to increase fitness levels

There are many household items that you can use to increase your fitness levels. If the cost of the gym or fancy exercise equipment is the problem, don't let it stop you from getting healthy; there are many items that you already have around the house you can use.

Most of the chores you have for your home and yard are great ways to exercise. Here are some ideas that you can try. Remember that with any exercise, if you feel tired, dizzy or ill in any way, stop doing the exercise. If you have health issues or concerns, it is important to talk to your doctor to find out what a safe level of exertion is for your body.

Vacuuming with a bounce. The movement of vacuuming is a great way to burn calories, however adding a little bounce to your step while you are vacuuming will help more than you know. You can burn anywhere from 238 to 260 calories per hour simply from vacuuming your home.

Weeding, raking, shoveling and working in the garden will burn roughly 287 calories per hour. This job is good for burning calories, however it is even more fun if you wiggle with a little music while you are working on the weeds.

Mowing the lawn is another fantastic way to burn calories and increase your fitness levels. There is a little resistance when you push the lawn mower through the grass. Walking is a fantastic way to stay healthy, but with the added resistance of the mower, you end up burning 369 calories in an hour. Wow, that is great exercise, and really gets the heart pumping.

Dusting in dance mode will increase the calories that are burned from standard dusting, and if you stretch while you dust, you are also creating healthier muscle structure to support your weight loss. Dusting is roughly 130 calories, you add dancing and you bring that up to almost 400 calories per hour.

The house needs a little sprucing up, so paint a little and burn some calories. Painting inside your home will burn 287 calories per hour, and if you are painting outside in the sun, you can burn 328 calories. This is a great way to use household items to increase your fitness level.

When you are cooking to create the healthy food you want to eat, you can burn 86 calories per hour, however if you add in a few extra steps or some music and dance, you will find that you can burn significantly more calories, right around 164. That is a huge difference, why not burn the calories you are going to eat.

Mopping the floor is another great way to burn calories. In fact you burn 206 calories. Though, if you put a little slid and dip into the mopping movement you are bringing the burned calories amount to almost 400 calories per hour.

What ever it is that you like to do in your home, if you use the household items with a little fun and bounce you will find that you can increase the calorie burning by roughly 30%. So if something you are cleaning seems boring or hard, add some music and some fun you will find that not only is the job easier, but you are going to be losing weight and getting healthier while you do it.
