Keeping healthy while getting fit is usually a matter of listening to your body. You body tells you when it's hungry, when its full, when it needs sleep, when it is feeling sick, when it is stressed and that you are fit and healthy. So, if you listen to your body, you will not push yourself so hard that you weaken your immune system, you won't hurt your muscles, etc. When trying to keep healthy while getting fit, listening to your body is very useful and wise.

Adults need 6-8 continuous hours of sleep, which does not include three 20-minute catnaps a work. Sleep is very important to keeping healthy while getting fit. Sleep allows your body to recuperate and be rejuvenated from the day's work and stress.
Listening to your body includes listening to stress indicators. Keeping healthy while getting fit incorporates stress indicators, if you are working out too hard, your body will tell you so. These stress indicators are different for everybody and you need to listen to your body to know what your overly stressed indicators are and when you hear your body telling you, you are to stressed out, listen and reduce the stress in your life. Like take something stressful in your life out, take a day off, reduce the stress by giving it to someone else so you can stay healthy while you are getting fit. Overdoing it in the name of fitness is never good for you.

When keeping healthy while getting fit it is still important to get rest from the workout or exercise you are doing. You body tells you to rest and take it easy.
When you are getting fit take it easy at first, do not start out running 3 miles, when you haven't even gone walking in years. Start slow with all exercise for keeping healthy, if you get a new exercise video, don't do the advanced examples first day. Work up to them, start with the easy and when you master that go on to the more difficult repetitions.
