Keeping physically fit with a demanding schedule

If you have a demanding schedule, it can be difficult to keep physically fit. Fitness takes time, effort, energy, and in some cases money so the question becomes, how is it possible to stay fit when your schedule is demanding?

The following are some tips for keeping physically fit when you have a demanding schedule:

Tip one: Get up early. For many getting up early is really not an option. However, if you can get up early and fit in thirty minutes of fitness exercises, you will benefit greatly. So, wake up thirty minutes before you normally do, hop on the treadmill, jump in the pool for a little while, or just turn on an exercise tape or DVD and follow the instructions. You are far more likely to spend time on physical fitness in the morning than you will at night. So, do not put it off, fit it in before your shower and breakfast. It is good to wake up early, but you may find after a time that your thirty minute workout helps you to get moving faster in the morning and after a short time you will not even have to get up early anymore.

Tip two: Fit it in your normal routine. If you are too busy to get up a few minutes early to do some working out, then try to add some fitness to your typical schedule. You can take the stairs at work instead of the elevator, park a little further away when you go to the grocery store so that you have to get some extra walking in. Do not put your groceries back in the cart after purchase, instead carry them and do curls as you walk back to your car. Stretch while you watch your favorite television program. There are plenty of things you can do to keep physically fit with a demanding schedule; you just have to find a way to fit in. Make sure you take a look at your regular activities, and how you can make these activities into something that means greater fitness.

Tip three: Set time aside just for you that involves some physical fitness. Even with a demanding schedule you can find time for things you love, such as watching television, eating out, or taking a long shower. So, to fit physical fitness into a demanding schedule you need to make it more of a priority. As soon as it starts ranking on your priority list, you will have the motivation to fit it in. You will be able to not only find time, but enjoy the time working out. It might take the place of one of your television shows, or be something that is a real release or outlet for stress for you.

Tip four: Find a buddy. We all find time to relax and socialize occasionally, so if you can fit this into the same time that you workout, then you will be able to fit physical fitness into your busy schedule. Not only will it help you to find time, but it will also help motivate you to go. Exercise and fitness activities are always more fun when you have friends or family members that you are enjoying them with. So, take the time to find a friend whom you can work out with, and set up a schedule where you will meet each day at the same time to work out and get physically fit. You can go walking, jogging, meet at the gym, go for a swim, or just do aerobics or go biking together. You can also combine fitness with fun, but taking a bike ride as a family, or taking your children swimming, just be sure to swim a few laps not just sit in the kiddie pool.
