You have probably heard about this miraculous new laser eye surgery that makes it so that you never have to wear glasses or contacts again. Believe it or not, but lasik surgery is a reality, and millions of people are having it done each year. The surgery is generally quite safe and it usually only takes a few days to recover, after which time many people report that they no longer need to use glasses or contacts. So you are probably thinking that this miracle surgery costs thousands of dollars for each eye, right? It certainly can, but when you consider the continuing costs of contacts and glasses, it could be much cheaper in the long run to go with lasik surgery.

Furthermore, not having to deal with irritating contact lenses, or glasses that drastically alter your appearance is more than worth a couple thousand dollars. So is there a way to keep the costs of lasik or other eye surgery
down?

Read bellow about some suggestions for limiting the costs of the procedure.

First, realize that you should not skimp on your eye surgery. You want a good doctor and clinic to perform the surgery. It won't pay to have a cheap job done, only to find that you need to return for corrective surgery. This is not only dangerous, but could be extremely expensive. Don't gamble with something as important to you as your eyes.

The average cost of laser eye surgery is 1,500 dollars. This is a hefty hunk of change, but there are some factors that drastically alter the amount you could pay. First, the cost will vary greatly depending on the extent of the eye problem and the place where you have the work done. Generally speaking, the cost of eye surgery is much higher in major eastern and western metropolitan areas. The same surgery performed in Indianapolis could cost much, much less than surgery in Los Angeles.

The type of technology used to do the surgery can also greatly increase or decrease the cost.
The most up to date, high tech equipment can make the cost of the surgery extremely high. If you want to cut costs you might want to go with a clinic that isn't using the mosr recent technology. However, this could also mean that the surgery will not be quite as successful.

You might also be able to negotiate with the lasik clinic for a cheaper price. Lasik is an extremely comptetive business, despite the high demand, so the clinic might be willing to bargain with you. There could also be special deals offered at certain times of the year, or coupons found in a local newspaper. Some clinics will considerable discount the price if you can pay up front with cash. Also, if you can't afford to pay for your lasik all at once, many companies will work out a payment plan. You could pay small amounts each month for several years, making the surgery a possibility.

With so many ways to cut the cost of laser surgery, and with payment plan options available, just about anyone can enjoy the benefits of the procedure. However, you should never be cheap when it comes to your health, so expect to pay something for a job well done. Use a good clinic with good doctors-these are things that you simply cannot cut out of the equation. But with some smart shopping you can find competitive prices that will help to get you this miracle surgery. Good luck with that lasik!
