Keeping your skin healthy and glowing all summer is achievable for any woman. Most women dread the summer for more than just the swimsuits. Makeup becomes scarcer during the summer months because it starts to feel heavy or can cause more acne breakouts. A lot of women will start to use less makeup during those summer months to rectify the breakouts or the heavy feeling on their skin but their skin may be blotchy or lack the summer glow. Here are some tips for keeping your skin healthy and glowing all summer, even without the makeup.

You should exfoliate your skin regularly with a gentle scrub. This can be done once a week or more but should not be done every day. Some people go to the spa for a chemical or physical exfoliation but you don't always have to do that. Leave the spa for special occasions. You can find gentle exfoliates at any beauty store and some salons will sell their own brands. These exfoliate scrubs come in many different smells and for different parts of the body. Any scrub will do all that you are trying to accomplish is to scrub away the older and dull skin that gets left on your skin when it regenerates. Exfoliating your skin 2-3 times per week will help your skin achieve a glow that is great for the summer months.

After you exfoliate you should then moisturize to replenish and hydrate the newer skin you just exposed. Once again any type of lotion will work. Many lotions have smells that will also match the exfoliate scrub you used. You also do not need to spend a fortune on lotions as long as the lotion moisturizes your skin then it is fine no matter what the price. You should use the moisturizers or lotions after every shower or bath to retain some of the moisture from the water. You can also buy lotions with a self tanner already in the lotion to help give your skin a healthy and glowing look all summer long.

During the summer it is good to get some sun exposure for your skin but you need to be smart about it. This means you need to wear sunscreen. Sunscreen will help stop sunburns or major damage to any of your skin that is exposed to the sun. Cover your body with sunscreen especially when going outside for a long period of time but remember that the sunscreen needs to be reapplied every 4 hours for the best UV protection. Too much sun exposure without sunscreen will give your skin sun spots and can also make it look blotchy and uneven. Put on the sunscreen to achieve the healthy and glowing skin you want to have for the summer.

If you notice your skin becoming dry or you are just heading into the summer months you will want to use a bath oil to wash with instead of soap. The bath oil will help give your skin more moisture to give it the glow that you are trying to achieve. You should also drink plenty of water to keep your skin well nourished. Both these tips are great for year round skin care and not just the summer glow that everyone hopes to achieve.

Don't forget your nails on both your feet and your hands. Make sure you take care of any discolored toenails or fingernails with an anti-fungal nail treatment. You should also pay attention to the rough spots on your feet, elbows, knees and even hands. You can ruin great skin with just one dry patch. Keeping your skin healthy and glowing all summer can be very easy and with very few steps.
