New Urine Test Could Help Identify Bladder Cancer
Italian researchers report that a quick and simple urine test may be a much-needed test to detect bladder cancer.
The test would measure the levels of the enzyme telome. Telomerase is triggered by the body to help fight against cancer cells, and researchers indicate that cancer patients had four times the normal level of telomerase in their urine when compared to healthy patients.
This test still needs to undergo significant testing to assess it's accuracy, but scientists are hopeful that it may be one that could create a quick screening test to help identify cancer sufferers in their early stages.

At this point in time, they do not intend to use it on normal individuals, focusing on high-risk individuals and those who are recovering bladder cancer survivors to assess whether it has reoccurred. But hopefully, this discovery will eventually be one that will create a test that can be used on the general population.
