When looking at Pilates versus yoga, choosing your best routine may seem like an endless task. Knowing that both Pilates and yoga can be adjusted to your level of experience is helpful. Also knowing what each has to offer will help determine which routine you might want, Pilates or yoga.

Looking at Pilates versus yoga, it's important to know that Pilates will use controlled, precise movements that will require control and concentration of mind and body. Pilates does not emphasize vast repetition, but correctly doing each movement properly and with control.

Yoga will also increase the flexibility of your body. Choosing yoga for your best routine will enable you to have less stress and tension in your joints and muscles. Yoga slowly and carefully stretches the body's muscles while tuning into the inner self.

Both Pilates and yoga will lengthen the spine, improve your posture and strengthen the total body. A person can get total body health by choosing the best routine from the many available routines.

When you are contemplating Pilates versus yoga, choosing your best routine may include both Pilates and yoga. There are some exercise tapes and TV shows that have combined Pilates and yoga. This can give you the relaxing and stretching yoga positions as well as the controlled and precise movements of Pilates. They actually work well together and provide one of the best workout routines.

When choosing your best routine between Pilates and yoga, give yourself at least a week to try the routine out. There are some that will be easy or slow paced. If you are used to a fast paced workout then chose a routine that has an advanced level. You may take is slow when learning the routine, but you will want to be able to have a challenge, once you learn the postures and positions.

Another thing to remember when looking at Pilates versus yoga is that you may want to change back and forth. Choosing your best routine may be choosing to alternate between Pilates and yoga. Also remember that it takes two weeks for the body to show any weight or inches lost. This is especially true with Pilates and yoga. When choosing the best routine for you, try out the routine first by renting the exercise video, if you like it, go buy it. If you don't, then try another one.
