Protecting your skin during the summer
Protecting your skin is one of the most important things you can do for your body. Your skin isn't just a cover, but it's part of your body and it still gets harmed. Therefore you have to protect it. Here are some ideas you can try to protect your skin during the summer.
First off, use sunscreen. It can be annoying yes, but it's better than having a sunburn or getting skin cancer later in life. You need to buy a kind that protects not just UVA rays but UVB as well. Look at the spectrum that each kind covers. You need to buy the kind with the most range and protection. Each year news shows do segments on the best sunscreens on the market, so take a look at them and buy the kind they suggest. They do lots of tests on the sunscreens so you can trust their judgment. Make sure you apply sunscreen 15 to 30 minutes before you go out in the sun. Not just in the water. It needs time to start working. Make sure you rub it in really well. Also, reapply at least every 2 hours and use lots. You can never be too safe with sunscreen.

Wearing clothes that cover you also helps. Wear things like a hat and a light beach dress. For guys, wear a shirt while you are waiting in the sun. You don't have to all the time of course, but it will help keep you protected.
Chap stick now usually has sunscreen protection. Make sure that you are buying that kind. It will give you protection on your lips, which believe it or not still can get burned. They just usually end up chapped. It is a simple fix, plus for girls it helps give your lips some natural color while at the beach.
Buy a moisturizer with sun protection. That way, you don't have to put ton's of oily sunscreen on your face and ruin what your face wash did that morning. You will have to reapply the moisturizer more often, but it will help keep you protected and also from getting tons of zits in the morning. There are kinds that also help with acne or other special kinds, but some do all three. Even if you are worried about getting acne from the moisturizer sunscreen, wear it. It is better than getting burned or getting skin cancer.
Wear sunglasses. They look great on everyone, and help protect your eyes. Eyes aren't part of your skin, but they are a big part of your body. Keeping them safe is essential. Buy sunglasses that have at least UV 400 protection. They will be the best for protecting your eyes.
Keeping you skin safe is so important. Skin cancer is a huge deal and is something that we can try to avoid. Keep children especially covered. Children under 6 months should be kept out of the sun and kids over 6 months should wear lots of sunscreen. Just because you aren't a child doesn't mean that you don't need it. Sunscreen and the other ways to protect your skin, keep your skin healthy and keep it looking younger. When you spend too much time in the sun, you get tan yes, but you also have older looking skin that really isn't healthy skin.
