Psychological health
Your psychological health is directly tied to your physical health. When you are physically unhealthy, it can have a direct impact on your psychological health. If you are psychologically healthy, you often have other healthy habits as well. Thus, making sure you are psychologically healthy is just as important as making sure you are eating right, exercising regularly, and getting plenty of rest. Get some sunshine. There is a connection between getting sunshine and vitamin D and depression. Many people suffer from seasonal depression. For good psychological health, you want to make sure that you spend at least 10 minutes a day out in the sun.
Limit alcohol and avoid drugs. Mood changers will influence your psychological health. If you want to have good psychological health, you should not change it with things like alcohol and drugs. This can lead to dependencies and other problems with mood swings, etc. A glass of wine every now and again is not going to ruin your psychological health, but addiction is going to negatively affect your psychological health.
Find something you love and do it. One of the best ways to keep your psychological health high is to actively engage in something that you enjoy. You have to work hard and keep yourself busy. A lot of times the quickest route to a decline in psychological health is inactivity and boredom. So, find a job or something else you can love and put your time and attention into, then throw your self into it full time. Keeping your mind actively engaged helps you to keep it healthy, and you happy.
Relax regularly. Stress can really mess up your psychological health and taking time to relax and let yourself unwind each day is going to help you stay healthy. When you do fun things and things that help you relax your body is able to let go of the problems that lead to heart stress, acne, high blood pressure, etc.
Connect with others. Psychologically we need to connect with others in order to be happy. So, if you want to keep your psychological health high, be sure to spend time with people you love. Make a real effort to spend quality time with friends, and loved ones. Learn to open up, trust, and get close to people. Plan a night that you are going to spend with friends each week, and use technology, etc. to stay in touch with people during the week.
Psychological health requires work. Just as you can't have health in your body without taking the right steps, you can't be mentally healthy and strong without effort on your part. One of the best parts of being psychologically healthy is that many of the steps to body health help with psychological health. Getting proper sleep, getting proper foods, etc. all help lead to psychological health.
